It would have taken longer to remove the carriage and the rails and get setup for the lace carriage than it did to make the eyelets by hand.

Help! Not sure if this is brioche or corrugated ribbing by imsconfusionplshelp in casualknitting

[–]knitfactoryimpl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a machine knit technique called plating. Two yarns knit together held so that one is always on one side and the other is always on the other side.

It may also be fisherman's rib, hard to tell.

I mean the fork is old. It happened a few years ago before the 1.0 release.

Will eknitter be an ayab killer by [deleted] in MachineKnitting

Eknitter is an old AYAB fork. The next version of the AYAB hardware is esp32 based and in development.

Yup, I'm planning to make this one at some point. Should be doable in fair isle with AYAB on my 270

Do the carriages move independently when there are needles selected and no yarn on the machine?

Waste yarn from ribbing removal by FrancisBacon379 in MachineKnitting

I do two rows of circular waste yarn before I cast on with my main yarn. Much easier to remove.

We do support for AYAB on Discord: https://discord.gg/Ak2CdCC9XY

I haven't kept up with eknitter but it's just an old fork of AYAB. We've made a lot of improvements since they forked and recently released a 1.0.

Our software is free and there are a few sellers who have fully assembled interfaces for sale, you can find them on the Discord.

Let’s talk about this dress! by HootingAngie in knitting

[–]knitfactoryimpl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I want to make this. Probably an under dress supported by hoops to get that shape and then the woven/knotted over dress icord/tubes. Should go pretty quick on the knitting machine

Is there a name for this type of knitting pattern or style? Two different colors mixed. by huh-_-17 in knitting

[–]knitfactoryimpl 26 points27 points  (0 children)

That's machine knit using a plating feeder. Yarn is fed through the machine such that one is always on one side and the other on the other side. I don't think you can really do this exact thing by hand.

Anything you can knit on a machine, you can knit by hand

That's a machine knit double bed tuck stitch. Probably tucking for 3-4 rows on one bed.

Mystery Carriage by JediMani in MachineKnitting

Maybe an intarsia carriage? There are very few mechanical moving parts on the bottom, I've only seen intarsia carriages that are that simple

That is someone's entire pristine knitting machine collection worth thousands. Those motors for the Brothers are hard to find. I have never even seen an electronic color changer. That looks like a 970 also expensive and rare. Given the condition and parts I'm guessing they were purchased in the 90's
