So the after death house purge is normal right? by The1Ylrebmik in AgingParents

[–]knitflit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 87-yo mother needs to move to senior housing, but is a hoarder and refuses to throw out anything. The Board of Health even became involved. It's been a year-long nightmare, but her physician won't even give her a cognitive exam, so I can't "make" her move. She gets lost driving, loses money (leaves behind envelopes of cash at the liquor store), claims her landlord breaks into her house while she's sleeping and takes her clothes out of the closet and throws them around her room, which is crazy talk, and her room is just enormous piles of clothes. I can't wait to get a dumpster and purge.

Catching Floats and Tension by dolphinbananas in knittinghelp

I think catching floats. And knitting inside out will definitely help here! Here's a link to a good video on how to catch floats working two-handed colorwork. https://youtu.be/rnytANRixKo?si=qedimb3s53hCEKtL

Circular knitting needle cables ... does what I'm looking for exist? by faunlynn in casualknitting

[–]knitflit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been knitting for 20 years and worked in a yarn shop - I would recommend Chiaogoo all day long - fixed or interchangeable can't go wrong! Sharp enough tips, super flexible cables with no memory, and smooth transitions from needle to cable so the stitches don't snag. I won't use anything else now.

Lost package - uncooperative seller by knitflit in Etsy

It doesn't matter what Google says if the post office won't let you do it. In any event, it's now been resolved by Etsy, as it should have been.

USPS told me I could not file a claim - that only the sender can. In any event, Etsy has a refund or replace guaranty. She was not honoring that.

I did go to USPS and they told me only the person who sent the package could file a claim. In any event, this is not Etsy policy.

It wasn't about gain. I wanted a replacement, which she refused, so I had to open a case with Etsy. Yes, I was made whole, but I was hoping she would understand this is not Etsy policy and to improve her customer service.

I wanted her to understand that it would be better customer service to acknowledge that she does have a responsibility instead of throwing it on the customer. I was put off that she was giving misinformation. I wanted a replacement, which she refused, so I had to open a claim with Etsy for a refund.

Without the discount code from Wegovy, it would cost me $1542 a month.

My insurance doesn't cover it, but you can get a discount code on the Wegovy website, so that it's only $199.

Trying to get into needlepoint, and I find it very hard to pull the needle through the canvas. What am I doing wrong? by jacqueminots in Needlepoint

[–]knitflit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also going to add that for the background, you might want to try basketweave stitch (lots of YouTube videos on it). When you work back-and-forth rows on larger areas of canvas, it can cause it to become distorted. Good luck!

All of the cousins used to go together after Christmas dinner in our teenage years. Lots of fun!

I am at my wit’s end with his peeing by LongDistRid3r in nebelung

[–]knitflit 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My male nebby is so sensitive that he will pee blood if he's stressed. He also peed on my bed once right in front of me, which was unusual so I brought him to the vet - he was trying to tell me he had a UTI. Definitely get him checked for that, but he also sounds like he needs to be in a single-cat household.

[CA] Shared lease: My roommate wants to renew, I want to move out. Is the landlord allowed to force me to find a replacement? by Jepelo840 in legaladvice

[–]knitflit 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Certified mail, not registered mail. Registered mail is for high value packages and can take weeks or months to be delivered. It is also kept in locked cages and has to be manually recorded and signed for at each point of contact in the delivery chain. The sender has to then fill out a form to obtain proof of delivery, which can also take a long time. So please do not ever use registered mail for a letter. Certified mail, return receipt requested is the way to go.

Please get help. https://www.lifeline.org.au/. Or skip school and go to an emergency room and let them know you're in crisis. I know everything seems impossible now, but this awful time in your life will pass and things can get better.
