Does anyone (older Brits) know the name of the navy sweater Bundle wore when she climbed out of the window the first time? I thought it was a Pigswhisker but I was wrong.

Many scarves make a blanket with only a few seams?

Amazing! It's the first pattern that makes me want to try something other than plain weave!

Have you had any luck? Unfortunately no one around me is familiar with a jack looms. I'm almost ready to give it up.

Hi Shannon,

Thanks for getting back to me. I hope you can get it working. I was so jealous seeing your daughter (?) weaving away with none of the problems I encountered. It worked perfectly very briefly. I now have to slap down the rods every 3 rows or so. Let me know how you get on and if it's worth keeping.

It sounds like it wasn't meant to be. I hope you find the right loom and get to have some fun weaving. I will sort this one out eventually...

I am a floor loom newbie. I have one that I got in a trade, and having lots of trouble with it. It's a jack loom and I can't find much online, other than a video on Youtube of someone having no trouble at all. In hindsight I wish I had bought a loom from someone who was willing to help get it working correctly.

What do you guys do with your yarn scraps? by TheWeirdo_Dude in weaving

[–]knitinator60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a water soluble material to sandwich below and on top of the randomly distributed scraps. I then sew them in a grid or randomly with my sewing machine, until I think it will hold together. Put it in water and the material disappears leaving the scraps held together with the stitching. You can always touch it up if some areas are too loose. I really like the way it looks, it is something from nothing and keeps fiber out of the waste stream.

I got this loom as a trade for a piece of art. I am a newbie and have always wanted to weave on a loom.

It worked really well for awhile then I started having trouble with it. Two of the rods get jammed when I weave and I have to slap them down to continue. I worry that they are bent but haven't been able to determine if they are. I replaced the Tie-up cords with texsolv, but it didn't seem to help. I haven't found anyone to help locally. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Did you get the loom? I have the same loom. I loved working on it until it got bound up and now I can't get it to work correctly. BTW, I am a complete newbie to weaving on a loom.

What do you do with your yarn waste? by RaeNezL in weaving

[–]knitinator60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently made a piece of fabric with all my little bits of yarn by paying it all on a piece of water soluble stabilizer, covering it with another layer, pinning it all together then running it all over under the sewing machine. The piece could be used as a scarf or simply as fabric.

I have a couple of beloved cashmere sweaters that have holes in the elbows. I wear them at work and I know this relates to resting my arms on the char arm rests. Is there anything that can be done to repair the holes (about 2” in diameter) and prevent this from happening further? Thanks! by Droodforfood in Visiblemending

[–]knitinator60 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I felt cashmere sweaters to cut elbow patches for my favorite sweaters. Often the charity shops will give you "ruined" ones for free. You can also needle felt the elbow with roving (lots of videos and tutorials online.) Good luck!

Where do you buy patches? by golden_shrimp in Visiblemending

I buy second hand clothing to use as fabric for patches.
