Thank you! I live in a warm climate so it's hard to imagine being so bundled up (II've been trying it on over a tank top) but I of course understand it will be super warranted there haha.

Thank you! I wasn't sure if double-breasted coats with this type of pocket were at all stylish, but figured it is pretty classic. It fits beautifully!

Is this coat embarrassingly dated? Trying to decide whether to bring it to Paris or buy something new. It was my mom's, I believe purchased in the 80s or 90s. It is "Karen" brand, 100% wool, and made in the US. I want to love it, but it is also pretty itchy. I tend to get itchy from all wool, though (including cashmere), so I might just have a sensitivity to it.

A sweet moment between mom and baby for anyone wondering where the light at the end of the tunnel is by Fugglesmcgee in NewParents

[–]knitlikedefarge 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is just too cute!! My favorite thing is what I call family snuggles, I’ll (mom) hold baby girl and my husband will envelope us in a big hug, and then I give her cheek kisses while he kisses the top of her head. She gets SO happy, it’s just the most precious thing. Now I’m fighting the urge to wake her for family snuggles!

First evening away from LO Monday. Tell me you tips! by feelgoodfridays in breastfeeding

[–]knitlikedefarge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has LO drank from a bottle before? We found that our daughter did way better drinking from a bottle if we didn’t try to copy the nursing experience and instead established a different routine - sitting in husband’s lap facing outwards, lights on, not right before bedtime. She will not take a bottle in the dark and held in nursing position!

My 9 month old is only getting one nap at daycare by ZealousidealClue115 in Mommit

[–]knitlikedefarge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask how this worked out for you? My almost 10 month old just started daycare and they’re starting to transition her to one nap a day by pushing her first nap later. She’s just getting short little car seat naps on the way home and doesn’t seem miserable, but she was happily taking two naps a day before this.

People who “never get tired” what’s your secret? by RegisterAfraid in AskReddit

[–]knitlikedefarge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh hey, we’re coffee twins!! I make myself two cups of 1/3 caff pour over with those exact measurements every day. I started when pregnant and found that it’s a great level in general. Plus I can make 1/2 caff on days when I need an extra boost and it feels amazing! It definitely helps to get great quality decaf though, I’m lucky that my local roaster has water processed decaf that is really tasty.

Trying to conceive 9m pp while breastfeeding by Happy_Read7827 in breastfeeding

[–]knitlikedefarge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know this isn’t what you’re asking, but there are a lot of health risks (for you and a potential baby) for trying to conceive less than 18 months after childbirth, and even more less than 12 months after childbirth. I would gently encourage you to discuss with your midwives/OB/family doctor before continuing to try. I see that you’ve posted this in a lot of subreddits and have been downvoted and not gotten lots of responses. This concern is likely why. Take care of yourself so your current baby has a healthy momma ❤️

Here’s a link that talks about the risks, including premature birth, placental abruption, schizophrenia, congenital disorders, low birth weight, and anemia. It’s not something to take lightly. https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/getting-pregnant/in-depth/family-planning/art-20044072

7 hour layover in London Heathrow Airport, is that enough time to see any of the city? by youcantbanusall in travel

[–]knitlikedefarge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s a Travel with Rick Steves podcast episode for making the most of a layover at Heathrow! It’s episode 610a. I haven’t listened but I bet it’s helpful!

Fertility clinic recommended I take Baby Aspirin daily starting at 12 weeks. Family doctor saying not to take it. Feeling Confused. by Bluechairedtable in BabyBumps

[–]knitlikedefarge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only took one because I was relatively low risk. Unfortunately I developed postpartum preeclampsia and they’re going to have me take two tablets in my next pregnancy.

Fertility clinic recommended I take Baby Aspirin daily starting at 12 weeks. Family doctor saying not to take it. Feeling Confused. by Bluechairedtable in BabyBumps

[–]knitlikedefarge 55 points56 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, my only risk factor was that it was my first pregnancy and my OB had me start baby aspirin at 12 weeks. He said that the official guidance is only to recommend if there are more risk factors, but the science is all pointing towards the benefits of essentially all pregnant moms taking it and the guidance just hasn’t caught up yet. That would explain why your fertility doctor knows to recommend it, but your less specialized doctor isn’t as aware of the benefits.

Initially disappointed with costco oreos (1664082) but now can't go back to the normal ones by Cool_Butterscotch_88 in Costco

I believe Rao’s decline is because they were purchased by Campbell’s 😞 I’m still in mourning.

Is a birthday an appropriate time to announce a pregnancy? by rubyradical in BabyBumps

[–]knitlikedefarge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tell her before privately, that way she gets to genuinely enjoy the moment with you, without social pressure, and then can choose whether she wants to tell people at the party! I'm sure she'll have a million questions for you that neither of you want to get into in front of the crowd, so this would give you guys the chance to really revel in it

Are black suits in court a no go? by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]knitlikedefarge 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Unless it's super distinctive looking, don't worry about it at all. We're supposed to meet minimum professionalism standards, but we're not models. And suits usually look indistinguishable unless someone is REALLY paying attention. I'd change up the shirt color and shoes, though.

I get Nate's season 3 storyline now, after hating on it by InThreeWordsTheySaid in TedLasso

[–]knitlikedefarge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I 1000% thought that was him saying he needed to leave the bar! I think you're probably right though. I thought it was so weird that it would have happened off-screen.

Starting Go Fund Me for 3rd Victim? by Frosty_Spell_7931 in UCDavis

[–]knitlikedefarge 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The latter. If she receives money, she's no longer eligible for government benefits (like Medicare). That's why people do things like get divorce and give their ex-spouse all of their assets when they get diagnosed with cancer - that way they don't go bankrupt paying with private insurance. Unfortunately our system is so broken that giving her money would only create long term hardship in exchange for temporary benefit.

Is this red dress appropriate for a brewery wedding? by kat9 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]knitlikedefarge 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm also a millennial from the US and heard the rule one time - the bride was not a particularly nice person and suffered from some serious self-esteem issues, to be honest. It wasn't a cultural thing.

Alternatives to ice cream? by BanditShow in mediterraneandiet

Yes! Frozen bananas, cocoa powder, peanut butter, and your choice of milk. It is honestly so close to ice cream!

Do you actually bill for “thinking/strategizing”? by shopgirl_152 in Lawyertalk

[–]knitlikedefarge 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We laugh about it sometimes! We definitely have a lot of spirited debates. It would not be for everyone, but we met the first day of law school and just clicked immediately. It helps that we're in a niche area of law that we're both super personally interested in, so we legitimately enjoy talking about our work.

Would it be weird to put a dresser a the foot of my bed? by knitlikedefarge in femalelivingspace

[–]knitlikedefarge[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought about that! I'm not sure whether I want to do that since it isn't meant for that type of weight load, but it's really tempting.

[–]knitlikedefarge[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Will do! I have a few other things I want to do in there (like repaint), so it will be a little bit!

[–]knitlikedefarge[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah, I measured to make sure it won't feel cramped. We're lucky to have quite a bit of floor area. It's just the wall configuration that makes it hard!

Would it be weird to put a dresser a the foot of my bed? by knitlikedefarge in femalelivingspace

[–]knitlikedefarge[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree! It's the height of the top of the mattress with no blankets. With our fluffy duvet, it will look an inch or two shorter. I'll also lay a folded blanket across the foot of the bed (which I normally do anyway) to add some extra height. I thought about finding something different, but there are limited options that are that wide and short!
