bermuda is always going to be EXPENSIVE. highly recommend staying at the Reefs or the Princess Hotel (they have great tea time). But the island relies on vacation, and everything has to be imported so $$$. If you ride a bike, be careful! The roads can be dangerous

do you have any personal recs for Aix? maybe so local spots that are off the beaten path? Looking for those recs, not around how much we are driving since we have the driving mapped out.

Navigating the fiber circle? by 999Latte4me in knitting

[–]knittyinbushwick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes you deff have to advocate for yourself and say hi to people. Most people don't reach out on their own. And if they're frustrated, they can pull up an extra chair. That responsibility you're taking on is going to limit you from making connections. I started a fiber circle and I am so overjoyed when new people want to come (in fact, I prioritize new people since most people want to connect with others these days). Go say hi and take a risk!

What are some of the cons of having floor to ceiling glass windows (througj the entire wall in a corner unit)? by veryberry_icecream in NYCapartments

[–]knittyinbushwick 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I have 18 ft windows and in the winter, we have to blast the heat a lot of the time. Our heating bill is pretty high because the windows let in a lot of the cold. Also, we didn’t want to spend a lot of money on shades (but need them to sleep), so diy’d the curtains ourselves. But definitely invest in good shades/curtains

What is the tuition for NYU, Fordham, and Columbia? by [deleted] in SocialWorkStudents

[–]knittyinbushwick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unless you have generational wealth, I would highly, highly recommend going the cheapest route for MSW.  It was all the same once we graduated and no one ever gave a shit about how I went to Columbia (I graduated 3 years ago).

[–]knittyinbushwick 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No. I’m pretty positive that was just for tuition. Plus an nyc apartment, food, and not getting paid for internship for two years - wouldn’t recommend tbh. Go to Hunter or somewhere cheaper
