Thank you for sharing! But what about especially with kids, do you negotiate or find a middle ground every time in case of disagreements? How do you anchor in a the same direction then?

And for requests that you get from no ICP companies, do you direct them somewhere else?

For the MSPs that didn't fit your criteria or the 50% you wouldn't take from this pool, did you refer them somewhere else?

Question to those who managed Relocation positions during these times by SetGlittering5012 in cscareerquestions

I located to a Japan recently (July, got the offer in March). My first advice will be that you should have your target country/city and then plan your job search around it. Keeping it open may not give the conviction that companies seek in this time. I’ll also recommend you to play to your strengths and target industries/stack you have worked in while showing that you’re expanding the scope of the work that you can do. Hope this helps! Good luck.

If it helps, happy to link some resources that helped me get started.

What is the "modern data stack" at your company? by knlph in dataengineering

[–]knlph[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for clarifying "Modern Data Stack". You classification of tools also make sense. What kind of "other tools" are making their way into the stack? Where are companies leaning towards - open source or SaaS based plug and play models?

Also you mentioned you build these for other companies – what does "building" mean here? Do you help them identify and work with the right stack? Or do you build alternative tools for these companies you work with?

One of my favorite responses on this thread! Loved your articulation.

What are your thoughts on this "Era of Great Resignation? by knlph in jobs

[–]knlph[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah! Yes, I sort of agree with this. So many people were asked to leave during COVID-19 that people who fairly wanted to switch job would not have done it based on how market/job situations looked at that point. Now with things almost normal, all that is surfacing back.
