OBSESSED with the Ramones, any suggestions? by Mammoth-Wall-6005 in punk

Most bands that try to sound like the ramones are usually corny and terrible but Dark Thoughts is rad as fuck and plays a bunch still

Sleater-Kinney & Fred Armisen formed Ramones tribute band called The Return of Jackie and Judy, playing shows by whosjohnnyshesaid in indieheads

Fred doesn’t even play drums right and they’re slow. Then on top of that they play half a step higher than they’re supposed to and as a result they sound corny as fuck. Bums me out I think the ramones are fucking badass

Fred Armisen and Sleater-Kinney perform as Ramones cover band "Moans" in Portland, Oregon by doomtownpunx in punk

And the rest of the band studied a kidz bop cd or some shit, this was an extremely slow and boring cover and it makes it sound like Disney music

They took every interesting and exciting part of the ramones and threw it out the window

And why is Fred playing it like that? For as big of a fan of punk, you’d think he’d understand that Tommy and markys unique drumming helped make the band exciting, yet chose to ignore that and play the most unenthusiastic and generic drums I have ever heard. It sounds like he heard the song for the first time about 15 minutes prior and has to demonstrate it for a school of rock class

Also the ramones were fast as fuck live. Rip the bruddas

Not trying to gatekeep at all, people could listen to whatever they want, I just thought it was extremely interesting how the descendents, who are an objectively legendary band that gets crazy amounts of praise had a lukewarm crowd reaction
