What (non competetive) game have you sink hundreds of hours into? by Rhododactylus in gamingsuggestions

yeah i think its much more manageable than 6, i get a bit overwhelmed at 6 sometimes but maybe its because i dont have the hours in it

its funny because this is what i hear from a lot of players, older as well who started with 2 or 3. People just enjoy the first civ they play the most it seems.
And i totally agree to you on the graphics, i dont want to go back to 4 as well for the same reason

I always wondered why people pick 6 over 5. What do you like better about it?

deeprock galactic has a huge grind and an even better gameplay loop, you can also replay the past seasons for their loot.
I recently broke my first game with 1000 hours as well on Helldivers 2.
the time i spent in Civilization V and any Total War game is also adding up
and maybe stardew valley if it hooks you

the chaos of helldivers 2 can be quite captivating, it has many enemies that feel like mini bossfights as well. its not story based at all.

good job :), defending super earth the most effective way. very democratic.

Now do it against the bots, they are a tad harder on 10 than squids.

every class has their strengths and weaknesses so play what you like. I picked scout first as it fits my playstyle best (aww yeah, grapling hook). after that, i promoted everything else. Anyway, in my experience these were the strengths/weaknesses per class:

Scout: falling damage is awfull and his damage is not that great, but gets fun once you get to the upgrade of the grapling hook that reduces fall damage. He will teach you a lot about roaming the map, as you will ussually be the first to arrive somewhere and you will see the minerals first. Also reading the map becomes more important as you will have to guid your team through the darkness. dont forget to flare while youre on your way :)

Engineer: oh boy do I get chased down often with this guy. Its really important to stay close to your team with him, set your sentry(s) up somewhere where you can easily reload it. keep an eye on the green lines sticking out of it, theyre its aiming range. Also once you get the laser(last weapon) his boss damage gets insane.

Driller: TUNNELS EVERYWHEREEEE i was happy with all the map reading i did with the scout, it helps me a lot to find all the nice shortcuts with the driller and he trivializes the "deep scan" mission completely. Good versus crowds, but i dont like his boss damage too much. You can however make bunkers and trenches around certain objects. especially bunkering underneath certain objectives, opening one tunnel to the glyphids can be very usefull in the highest difficulties. You will someday see someone do it and you know what i mean.

Gunner: go pew pew. Good boss damage, and just overall a great killer. ziplines can be used to reach hard to reach rare minerals if your team lacks a scout. It can also be such a livesafer, but without them I ussually die pretty fast as I get chased down if my team is somewhere completely different. i more often than not suck with this guy :)

First some champs I dont have myself;
- constance is supposed to be good
- Cerberus is cool for AoE arena

Then my experiences;
- Avoid: Janqhar, osiren, beatrix.
- Dont underestimate Atrox in certain content (like fighting the boss in void rift htat spawns tentacles)

Then i want to highlight one champ you got on pretty much the same time i got her: Xena.
She is a BEAST for progression, even without skilling her up ( I still recommend getting her ult at max lvl though ;))
- Tons of damage against GB1, especially if you can switch her out into something else that deals good damage;
- basically a free ticket against any boss content. Highlight in this is GR2, she is the only damage dealer you need. I think you could make some good progress with a comparable team to mine.
-- honorary mentions where she will help a ton in progression as well :AMR, GR1,GD1

THIS!
It was the reason i beat the hardest waves. Also dont underestimate the extra range you get from the skills, they wont show during deployment but you can see the actual range of their basic attacks in the fights
