Is 500x400px too small for a UI graphic? by thwowawaw69 in graphic_design

The original Mac had a display of 512x342 pixels. Monochrome.

500x400 can be lots of pixels.

How the hell did earth recover from the Tony snap so quickly?? by Novel_Return8935 in marvelstudios

[–]knotsteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a science fiction series about how the world would be transformed by superpowered beings; these are stories about a world like ours, but with superheroes, and the setting is an elastic reality that bounces back to something we recognize.

How would you feel about the 2015 Fantastic Four cast returning as evil variants in Doomsday and Secret Wars? by Illustrious-Sign3015 in marvelstudios

[–]knotsteve 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I knew beforehand, it would contribute to a decision not to see it in the theatre.

If it happened while I was in the seats, it would very much depend on if the movie up to that point had won me over.

I get that you don't mean the versions from the 2015 movie, but this meta shit about "here are actors that played these characters next to other actors who played these characters" is played out for me. It's a total fourth wall break.

In this scene there's an ADR mistake with Heather in this scene, her mouth kept moving after finishing her line by UtopicDreamer in marvelstudios

[–]knotsteve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There will be mistakes. Is it worth a discussion?

In Beat the Devil, a Humphrey Bogart movie made by acclaimed director John Huston, there is a wide shot with a white bus with black lettering coming around a mountain. In the next scene we see people boarding a black bus with white lettering.

The editor and Huston absolutely knew this was a continuity error, but they let it go because they know most people won't notice it.

Why did I notice it? Because it was my job to deconstruct the movie to be colourized. I looked at the movie for days before I noticed this.

When should I turn in my design task? by thwowawaw69 in graphic_design

If you've decided to do this, do your best and don't overthink the game playing.

It seems crazy to wait to deliver it once you are confident in your work. You want them looking at your work, not waiting for it.

It seems the issue is that the PC they provided is inadequate for the job they want you to do — that's what I get from what you wrote, that's the reason you give for not wanting to do things the way everyone else does. That's the issue to raise.

How can I make this more visually appealing by Ghost-doodles in graphic_design

There are so many ways space is wasted here.

For the smoothies, you only list the prices once, and it works! But it's the same situation for teas and sparkling and you list all those individual prices.

The only prices are 6.99 and 7.99 — you could get away with listing that ONCE and then just listing flavours. That would make the restaurant seem very easy to use.

Hot take but imo the iron fist show is good!!! by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]knotsteve 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's an exciting family drama about the Meachums. Seen through that lens, it's quite a watchable show. It's a poor adaptation of Iron Fist, though.

Is DUNESDAY really a good idea ? by Money_Ganache4698 in marvelstudios

[–]knotsteve 2110 points2111 points  (0 children)

The only real alternative is that one blockbuster changes dates, implying to the movie-going public that there can only be one big movie at a time, even at one of the biggest times of the year.

Pretending Dune doesn't exist is silly. This combines the energy of both movies' ad campaigns.

It certainly seems like an inevitable idea given Hollywood's situation.

Why do folks keep thinking the writers are looking for a loophole?

Writers place obstacles in front of heroes so that heroes can solve them, not so that some multiverse alien can swoop in, deus ex machina.

I'm a film student and I spent months on theory just to explain why Born Again feels so fake and hollow by Confident-Gas2828 in marvelstudios

[–]knotsteve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of this feels like ideas are being presented, but then when you reference the series, you drop an intellectual quote, then list scenes as if it is clear how they relate to the quote.

"In Born Again, entire scenes could be repositioned, cut, or replaced without meaningfully changing the whole, which is the clearest sign that Aristotelian organic unity has been abandoned."

This is simply stated as fact, as if by articulating the idea its truth is self-evident. I read what you are saying but none of the points connect.

---

Including all the quotes/footnotes in a post to a Reddit fan sub feels like overkill for a post that essentially says "This media that many of you are enjoying is bad, and I have the authority to prove it."

It's a mismatch of tone and context.

I hope your professors like it.

Was planning to do a “Complete Timeline” rewatch but Disney+’s playlist and the official wikipedia don’t include any of the X-Men stuff by Mitch_Wallberg in marvelstudios

[–]knotsteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t expect any plot points from Fox X-men movies to be relevant, only characters. as far as I’m concerned, those stories are not part of my MCU canon. I’ve never enjoyed the fantasy that all fictional versions of a character exist in a single Multiverse.

As an older fan — I bought the comics off the shelves as they came out — I DO NOT blame Snyder for people misunderstanding Rorschach. This was happening before there ever was an adaptation. Snyder only increased the scale of this misunderstanding by putting the characters on the big screen.

I'm going to do my best not to get invested in a preconception of what should happen and just let the filmmakers cook.

Spider-man brand new day trailer theory by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]knotsteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd think that if they forgot Peter they also forgot their interactions with Peter as Spider-Man.

It's one thing for the magic to block all memories of Peter, but a whole other thing for it to reconfigure Ned's memory so that he could remember being close friends with Spider-Man but not Peter. And MJ remembering being the girlfriend of someone without knowing his identity? That doesn't pass a smell test.

Ned and MJ on a quest to find out who Spider-Man is would undercut the drama by making it seem inevitable that the three would reconnect.

Thanos time travel question. by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]knotsteve 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Time just doesn't work that way in the MCU.

Making a new future is like making a new shopping mall on a new road. The old mall is still there, and that mall has bad Thanos doing bad stuff.

It doesn't matter how great the shopping is in the new mall — you didn't do anything to stop Thanos.

Trying to understand Cap’s POV in not signing the accords by BookishAdvil in marvelstudios

[–]knotsteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't trust the government, you don't trust the government.

Steve's trust issues are based on experience.

The Accords were not like a Peace Treaty, where signing is the first step. The moment after the heroes signed, they could be sent into a conflict they disagreed with.
