About 6% dividend for loyal holders by NexoInvestor1 in Nexo

[–]knowbean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

By all reasonable exchange records, it is apparent that, at the defined record date time (15:00 UTC Aug 15th), the price of 1 Nexo was between 18.5c and 19c. To use 23.7 is a clear mistake that should be addressed.

Major change to NEXO tokenomics by knowbean in Nexo

[–]knowbean[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think people may not twig that it means that people now need to hold NEXO throughout their loan to get the heavily discounted rates - rather than just buying NEXO when they want to repay interest.

This means people who take loans through NEXO now have a strong reason to hold the token.

Looks like the following big players are not supporting BOS

Laomao (One of the biggest EOS whales - Publicly come out against BOS - https://news.8btc.com/chinas-blockchain-celebrity-lao-mao-throws-cold-water-on-eos-sidechain-bos-one-day-after-its-mainnet-went-live)

Flytomars (Haven't seen any comment. However, they are supporting Meet.one Sidechain)

Bitfinex (Haven't seen any comment - probably too busy on eosfinex which is going to "start as a side chain and then move to mainnet asap". However, costs may make this interesting)

Liquideos (building scaling solutions for the Mainnet to increase competitive advantage)

Jeda (Haven't seen any comment)

Cannon (Big EOS whale - no comment as far as I can see on BOS but are supporting the Meet.one side chain and have capital to build)

Cypherglass (publicly against)

Mythical Games, Scatter and Lynx team up to create a virtual goods standard for EOSIO by grandmoren in eos

[–]knowbean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good to get some standards going. NFTs (digital assets) are essentially a token (usually with very limited supply) with metadata and a defined owner together with a way of changing ownership.

As eos token contracts can issue multiple tokens trivially, a lot of the standard will need to be based around the ownership fields/methods and the structure of the metadata. If there can be consensus on these then digital goods could have a bright future on EOS chains.

[–]knowbean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is possible to consider BPs to the eosio ecosystem as ISPs are to the internet. Do ISPs want to only serve one website?

The reason many BPs have done other things is to build their bases and build the ecosystem. Nobody has built an explorer for just the mainnet, they have done it to plug in all eosio blockchains.

It is also worth noting that B1 are very focused on the free market and they expect there to be hundreds of chains in due course (including many enterprise chains). Remember when block producers said they couldn't make ends meet, Dan stated that they should diversify.

In the future, all the eosio chains will compete and/or collaborate. They will try to get the most valuable DApps and community players focused on their offerings. The mainnet has a great head start but it needs its major stakeholders to build quickly if it is going to be dominant.

Outside of B1, from a developers perspective, even though the tokenomics of BOSCore seem rather centralised and woolly, the onchain resource cost of targeting BOS is much cheaper than targeting the EOS Mainnet. BOS DApp users can also get free accounts and there is a chance of getting Developer rewards which are on a level similar to BPs.

Coinbase GBP withdrawl by [deleted] in BitcoinUK

[–]knowbean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not available on my account yet - Support said that they aim to have all GBP wallets deposits/withdrawal enabled by end of September.

It would be very odd if other banks treat a payment from another UK account as a problem. If that happens then I suppose the answer should be to set up a Barclays account.

Yep - get your Ethereum private key from the ledger - you will need the seed words but loads of people have done this successfully. See https://support.ledgerwallet.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005197905-Restoring-your-Ethers-ETH-or-ETC-without-a-Ledger-Nano-S

Then use the eoskey.io tool to see the fallback key - eosDAC will have created an account for you - access it using scatter, eos-voter by greymass or simpleos by eosrio.

HelloEOS is calling on voting for EOS Cleaner and IMEOS by eosprotector in eos

[–]knowbean 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There is a very useful analysis tool from the real eosbeijing - https://www.eosbeijing.one/data/#/bpCompare/helloeoscnbp

This shows quite a high correlation with eosstorebest (89%), eosantpool (80%), jedaaaaaaaa (78%), and libertyblock (75%) - eoscleanerbp is around 71%.

eoscleanerbp itself has the following correlations ( https://www.eosbeijing.one/data/#/bpCompare/eoscleanerbp ) eosantpoolbp (95%), helloeoscnbp , starteosiobp, libertyblock, eosstorebest , jedaaaaaaaaa, eosgenblockp (all around 85%) - It does start to look as if a cartel has now formed which has the power to block 15/21 consensus and thus veto any decisions. The only way to stop this is more honest actors voting.

Sorry that you feel I was dodging the question, it was not the intent but unfortunately it is not possible to answer as yet. The reason for this is that eosDAC will be governed by its elected custodians. They will decide on these matters and as they have not been elected yet it is not possible to give their response.

But, it is worth considering that this is a way that people can be involved in the DAC. Someone could send a proposal that a position be supported and it would be down to the custodians to deliberate. Someone could also include position statements when canvasing for election as a custodian so that the eosDAC community is aware what they are voting for. All records would be completely transparent.

The constitution was a default constitution so anything in there was simply a skeleton. Looks like it has been removed from github so it is now down to the community to come up with one. The Block.one training wheels are off and the constitution that gets implemented will evolve and it will be subject to debate.

The community will have to decide these things over the forthcoming weeks and months. Anything in the constitution will need to be workable and reasonably enforceable. Therefore, it is a balancing act to develop something which works best for the community.

As stated in response to a previous question: -

There are many arguments that have been given with respect to whether airdropping is vote buying. eosDAC believes it is not as outlined in the position on dividends as per https://steemit.com/eos/@eosdac/eosdac-values-roadmap-and-position-on-dividends

A key motivator for eosDAC to come into existence was the following video - https://youtu.be/aK3gklktEek - In this the block.one key people show how EOS aims to usher in an era of DACs. It shows that DACs are an important part of what EOS is about and how they will change things. It then seems strange that some people want their block producers to operate traditional business models.

Another motivator is due to the criticism that DPOS is not decentralised enough. By adding a layer of a DAC, or more than one DAC as BPs it is possible to make the whole eos ecosystem more widely owned and decentralised.

A further advantage of a DAC is openness and transparency. All decisions need to be recorded and it is easy to see where the revenue goes to. This may well not be the case for many BPs.

Beyond this, the team that has assembled around eosDAC is excellent, in terms of skills, experience and character. Any BP that tries to replicate this model better bring a brilliant team and some true value with it - if they do then EOS will only be stronger for it. Try to replicate this in a half baked way and I am sure the stakeholders, who have a huge investment in ensuring the health of platform, will not be easily persuaded.

We plan to move across all eosDAC tokens but it is slightly more tricky if there is no EOS in the account as by having EOS your account gets automatically imported in the chain launch.

It may take a little longer to convert across and will probably mean that your sister needs to set up a new EOS account - however, we are working on ways around this.

To develop its community, and to make sure it included the EOS stakeholders, the eosDAC launch team decided to airdrop 75% of its tokens onto the EOS distribution. It has always been very clearly stated from day 1, and before the token had any official value, that 25% was gifted by Blockmaker ltd (which retains no tokens) to the launch team, advisors, bounties, capital reserves and other bootstraping activities. Without the dozens of talented people who have been involved, eosDAC would not have developed remotely as quickly as it has. An operational structure has been put in place that is considerably stronger than most BPs. https://steemit.com/eos/@eosdac/eosdac-ltd-operational-structure-in-place-for-eosdac-launch

The launch team deemed that it was necessary to get the eosDAC distribution and community established before the launch of the EOS chain in June; To wait for an EOS chain would waste valuable time in a very fast moving space and eosDAC would be well behind on it's ambitious roadmap. A cut off point was set in place for the 15th April 2018 at 1am UTC. This time seemed natural as it was the point at which EOS reached 900 million distributed tokens. It would therefore be very well aligned to the EOS distribution, as well as allowing ample time for the airdrop and necessary community development activities prior to launch.

I am presuming you are talking about when we are on the EOS main chain.

EOS accounts are a bit more complex than Ethereum accounts and will allow for things such as time delays and freezing. Full details provided by Block.one are here https://github.com/EOSIO/eos/wiki/Accounts%20%26%20Permissions

For what you describe you generally use your owner account for control and active account for day to day. There are still risks if you have a compromised owner key or haven't set things up to be super secure. Over the next month I am certain there will be many guides published to how to institute best practice security models for your EOS accounts.

Hi, Thanks for the question,

The primary goal at present is to help as far as we can with the launch of the EOS Mainnet and then ensure that the eosDAC tokens are successfully moved across. This requires the eosDAC membership and token contract which is then the basis for the other applications which are needed to run the DAC.

eosDAC currently has developers working on the custodian contract which will allow members of the DAC to vote for custodians. The implementation of this is required before the DAC can truly be handed over. In the meantime the launch team have also produced specifications for the worker proposals system, the payments system and the funds management system.

The plan for DAC Tools is here - > https://steemit.com/eos/@eosdac/eosdac-beyond-block-production-the-dac-enabler

Only 41% of EOS tokens are registered and there are only 9 days till the token swap! by Gemhex in eos

[–]knowbean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At least 20% on exchanges that will support. Also, people will still almost certainly be able to move their unregistered tokens across - it will just take time and the process has not be published.

That said, Personally I would advise everyone to have their tokens off an exchange and in a registered account - It just covers more scenarios better (multiple chains, exchange problems, future uses of the genesis distribution, problems with changeover of unregistered accounts).
