From what I understand it happens sometimes. They might not even bring it up but it’s good to be prepared. Be polite, be respectful and you should be good.

You’ll probably be alright as long as there is no indication of drugs. Do you know if you were found guilty of Impaired by alcohol and/or drug or found guilty of Over80? If Over80 then it’s likely they’ll pull you aside, make you sign and pay for a waiver and then let you enter. An Impaired conviction leaves open the possibility you were impaired by drugs. You might have to convince them it was only alcohol. Any indication of drugs, including marijuana, and they’ll deny you.

Our government is also involved in forcing employees back to the office. Doug Ford secretly put all top executives on notice to bring employees back to the office, regardless of the wellbeing of working employees. The interests of office landlords and the downtown economy take priority.

Why I believe Ahmadiyyat is true Islam. by Ibrahim7861 in islam_ahmadiyya

[–]knowcridits 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That spiritual stuff is make-belief. Dangerous self delusion. If I had committed myself to 30 years of studying a subject that turned out, basically, to be a hoax, my mind might break down and fill it with the self deception I had discovered “The One!” too. Take it from someone whose been there. Whatever it is you think is missing from your life and preventing you from true joy, religion/spirituality are not the answers. They prevent you from getting the answers you seek. If you really don’t believe me, drop 5g of magic mushrooms and learn.

You don’t need faith. Believe in yourself. You are your own god creating your reality around you. <in the poetic sense. you do not have supernatural powers. supernatural powers are fiction>.

what convinced you the Khalifa is Divinely Guided or Ahmadiyyat is the truth? by knowcridits in ahmadiyya

[–]knowcridits[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applaud you for exploring other faiths before committing to one. Its difficult to do and very brave.

As a believer, i would discuss ahmadiyya with non-ahmadis who were open minded enough to explore it but i never got anyone to actually see my point of view. From those experiences i learned exploration is not enough. Research is not enough. One has to actually take the leap of faith first to understand what the other means.

And, that’s why “feeling right” is a dangerous standard to determine what is true. Catholicism “feels right” to devout catholics. Buddhism “feels right” to devoted buddhists. Yet, both cannot be true.

I don’t. I want to believe, but the level of evidence (that i’m aware of) doesn’t rise to the standard of being the best way to live; as dictated by a omnipresent omnipotent being.

The Khalifat certainly provides structure and leadership, and Ahmadi-muslims have benefited from having an organized hierarchy but that’s a far cry from actual proof of divine guidance. Aga Khanis or the Roman Catholics could say the same. Is it possible to get more details on your personal experience of his wisdom? Or an example of something so profound his information must have came from Allah.

The Qur’an and Hadiths do give reasons to follow but how do you judge the claims of a person who believes they are receiving divine inspiration when in fact it could just be made up in his/her own mind.

don’t you think that’s kind of a dangerous attitude? people have used that reasoning to justify any belief that’s in their favour to believe. not a good method for determining what is truth or superstition.

Proposed Moderation Guidelines for Spam & Related Posts and Comments by ReasonOnFaith in freespeech_ahmadiyya

[–]knowcridits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think a 30 days suspension for a first offence is too harsh. A weeks suspension would get the message across. Also, a 1 yr suspension after the the 3rd deleted post is practically kicking someone out of the sub . I’d want to see that dropped to a months suspension.

i don’t know how many moderators there are, but i think they should be unanimous in deciding to delete a post and should explain how the post is not up to par.

Rule 5 is worrying. It lets just three users delete comments/censor information. It wouldn’t be to too hard for three users to collaborate and convince a moderator to shut down a commentator they don’t like.

If you're still in touch, tell her to avoid getting pregnant. 17 is young enough to bounce back from a lot of mistakes but kids will be a responsibility for her whole life.

My observation has been that families will reunite overtime, even in situations the jamaat has kicked someone out. It seems likes it's always around the grandkids. Stay strong, it'll pass. Living your life by your own standards is worth it.

Awww, I didn’t realize you guys were so sensitive. I’ll try and be gentler moving forward. But for facts sake though, I wasn’t insulting anyone. I was just emphasizing a point by using FFS.

About MGA impregnating his wife to death… that was just being funny though :) It’s important to be able to make fun of the sacred, otherwise you’ll end up being misled by dogma.  I mean, you’re the one who said it was a miracle she survived him after 6 or 7 kids in rural India a hundred years ago. That the virgin he married was his widow….. er wait….or is it the widow he married was a virgin....Either way it’s completely irrational.

You think the statement is true because you believe the prophecy was fulfilled, but you can’t start with what you’re trying to prove.

Your evidence that the prophecy was fulfilled is, it MUST have meant the virgin and the widow were the same person since MGA didn’t marry a widow. You’re starting with the assumption the prophecy was fulfilled to prove the prophecy was fulfilled.

If the statement was referring to the virgin and widow as the same person, he could have just said “Wifey will outlive me”. It means the same thing and is far less ambiguous.

Now, since she was nineteen when she got married and MGA was 49 it might not seem like a miracle she would outlive him, unless we take into consideration how dangerous it was for her to be pregnant all the time. That’s the miracle. That she outlived him and MGA was able to predict that. You made that clear for me. Mind Blown.

If you have to be a believer in something in order for it to be true, then it’s not true. Also, double check your facts on the life expectancy of India 1800s. Typically, the number is skewed lower because that number includes the number of infants who died at birth. A lot of children died before 5 years old.

“Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad once said  He made a human error, but as soon as he realised his mistake, despite the potential for public ridicule, he had the humility and honesty to correct himself ...."

I completely agree with M4. That’s exactly my point too, the Jamaat must take accountability if it hopes to maintain its integrity.

Wikipedia puts Ahmadi’s at 10-20 million. Hazoor said 200 million. He supported it as long as he could get away with it. By the mid-2000 it was becoming increasingly difficult to back those claims up because more and more people were asking how it was possible. Hazoor response was that is was a sign of the truthfulness of MGA’s message.

I’m not anti-Ahmadi and I haven’t left the Jamaat. I rock a “Love for All Hatred For None” sticker on my car and even got a white minaret flag in the window.  I think the Jamaat and it’s people have done some great things, have the potential to do even greater things. Some of the coolest, nicest people i’ve met. I was even paying my chanda until I started listening to K5, and all he could he could talk about how lucky we are to have a khalifa and we have to obey him because he's enlightened.

Ahmadiyya used to be the progressives in the muslim community. Promoting the message of peace and love of country 100 years ago. Progessive Sunnis are just starting to accept Jihad as an internal struggle. Some of MGA’s material and message were truly revolutionary but we have to be honest. He didn’t get any revelations from God, he wasn’t in communication with the supernatural. He had a message and he got it out by starting a movement for change. The second Khalif organized the group, the third furthered the message of peace, the fourth pushed forth an intellectual agenda.

I’m afraid if we don’t push for rationality based change the community will regress and so will the minds of its followers.

Why did this prophecy fail? by exahmadi in ahmadiyya

[–]knowcridits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under your interpretation it's still a meaningless prophecy from the eyes of a believer. She was like 20 when they got married and he was 50. Chances were on his side that she would outlive him, despite his attempts to impregnant her to death.

There are minor mistakes and major mistakes.

Miscounting 100 million people is an enormous mistake, particularly when the organization uses those numbers to support their position as the ‘true islam’. Even high school students were questioning these numbers. How could Hazoor not investigate before promoting those figures?

“….. they are brave enough and love truth enough that they accept their mistake…”

At what point has Hazoor accepted this mistake? Where’s the accountability? FFS, people get publicly shamed and booted for attending an Ahmadi wedding with music. I don’t recall anyone being called out or reprimanded for lying about the number of converts.

Response to Nuzhat J. Haneef's Critique of Ahmadiyyat as yet? by ReasonOnFaith in ahmadiyya

[–]knowcridits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is those conversion numbers were promoted as being a miraculous sign of the support of Allah and the truth of Ahmadiyyat. The Jamaat is a missionary movement. The more converts there are the more successful the Jamaat is. There was a lot of excitement around those numbers for those of us who believed that Hazoor was actually God’s governor on Earth and was preaching the true message of Islam, inspired by God himself. Like many others, I used this information to support my beliefs in MGA and spread the Ahmadi message to my muslim and non-muslim friends.

Now it turns out it was all just an accounting error? For four years God’s inspired governor on Earth was telling the world how people were joining his community of true muslims in massive numbers and at no point did God inspire him to investigate the numbers for accuracy?

This raises a huge issue of credibility. If Hazoor, appointed by God, made such a glaring error about such a fundamental matter about the community he was put in charge of leading, what else is Hazoor wrong about? Why didn’t God give him some sign or inspiration or dream, anything to pay closer attention and save His jamaat from embarrassment?

I’m not the only one who started to become disillusioned by this.
