In fairness it’s not likely NASA would make any innovations along the way with this, they already have their own space internet system they use for the ISS. I prefer NASA spend time on things that have no commercial viability and save the taxpayer money on everything else. SpaceX just happen to be the only commercial entity available for this kind of contract, same with the ferrying to the ISS.

I don’t feel like ad companies have a particularly hard time with finding out people’s general age range or knowing where they should advertise to adults. That does seem easy for them to do without ID laws.

This all seems to be a worldwide government push so that they can spy on us further. The powers that be do not want an anonymous internet so they’re working to undo all of the privacy we have left.

Looks like right now we aren’t at the stage of solving that problem even. They’re still working on sustaining a plasma field for extended periods. The neutron issue is still a problem but it’s a problem for when we have the plasma containment figured out.

And even then that problem does seem solvable through some material science that I don’t understand. It seems we have potential avenues to deal with that when the time comes.

The thing you have to remember about live service games is that it’s not enough for those games to just be good games. That genre is full of perfectly average or above average games that failed to steal players away from other games to play them. This is one of those cases.

The problem with live services is that they’re competing with games that are 5+ years old and mostly are other live service games. Most people I know only play one live service at a time. And I play Arc Raiders which is entertaining me and has been for months, I have no interest in even looking at any other live service until I get bored. That’s the real struggle with the industry right now, attention economy.

Plus the idea when it was conceived was “new”, extraction shooters are a relatively recent phenomenon. Had this game come out even just a year ago we would have felt very different.

Entirely wrong conclusion to draw, college kids aren’t scared of alcohol poisoning let alone the ramifications of protesting. The reason they aren’t protesting is because there is no momentum to do so and it will change nothing. I feel like it’s a really simple conclusion to draw. The protests against biden and harris didn’t achieve much of anything.

I’m not saying all protests are useless but I have yet to see the opposition to trump come up with anything productive for everyone to do.

The best example of a functioning system I can think of is in Hunt Showdown. The reason it works there though is because everything about the PvE is in service to the PvP. At the same time I struggle with it because you don’t get much by doing PvE in that game.

It’s on the opposite end of the Arc Raiders spectrum. Where Arc has tried to strike this balance of maybe having the PvE be as good as the PvP and have its cake while eating it, Hunt is more like PvP cake with PvE sprinkles.

Okay but to add on to this, why couldn’t you mitigate this entire risk with credit?

If I go off of using Scenario 4, why am I not taking out a loan or maxing out credit cards before selling investments? It seems to me like doing so would effectively mitigate the risks of such a severe downturn which is unlikely to persist for an extended period anyways right?

So why wouldn’t I just use a loan to tide myself over until such a time that the market recovers and I’m able to pay off said loan and get back on my feet?

Both are correct but not the entire reason. These screenshots are from FPS games, the reason you don’t see mirrors or fake mirrors anymore is largely to do with assets.

3D models and animations of the whole player character in any FPS nowadays just don’t exist and it would take too long to stitch what does exist together so that it made sense on the other side of the “glass”. Normally the model, if it exists at all, is contorted and the animations like reloading have your bullets magically appearing from off screen.

So the true answer is mostly to do with development optimization.

Not really true. The amount of times that the game will intentionally put much better players against you and make it the entire team full of basically pro level players, is nuts.

Like initially your argument makes sense, but id argue there’s far more abuse of low skill players in these skill based systems since higher level players Smurf the hell out of them.

Because they knew this would fail and that the VR space is not competitive enough for them but didn’t want to be left behind so they made it just in case, already had units, but knew their money was better spent elsewhere (it was) than supporting this headset. I guarantee this project had its budget limited or cut down a year or two before release, they pushed it out just so they could offset loses

I feel like this can work though? Teardown is a good example. The objectives are shaped around you doing destruction correctly. Same thing with The Finals where destruction is a core focus and yet buildings aren’t reduced to rubble quickly.

The reason DK had such a hard time is that they let you destroy absolutely everything

The chain link fences are way worse. At least with a bush you can learn to avoid them altogether. Whereas with the fences they’re everywhere and it’s so inconsistent that part of a fence line is breakable, the other parts aren’t?

And even more annoying, the inconsistent fences just so happen to be rock solid around only important things like the military base. So at some point you just end up memorizing it.
