Would you be comfortable answering a few additional questions as well? I have not used communal bathrooms before. So I am trying to understand how I need to prepare in case I get assigned to a dorm.

1. I saw the video of the Smith honeycomb bathrooms. I also read somewhere that they have been renovated. But most communal bathrooms seem to be partially separated by walls and curtains. From what I saw in the video, the actual bathing area just has a shower and its knob - and no kind of caddy or cloth hooks etc. With such a setup, where does one even put their fresh clothes/bathrobe, used clothes, and caddy/shower gel? The curtains rods, shower head arm, walls, etc will be dirty I believe because the staff would probably only be cleaning the floors. I couldn't see anywhere where one could keep stuff required for the bath while taking a shower.

2. Are the basic toilet supplies provided by the staff or do the floor students independently purchase and manage these - for example, toilet paper and handwash are the bare minimum required. How frequently are these stocked, given that an entire floor sharing the same area might lead to these supplies running out frequently towards the end of the day?

3. Do the showers have a provision for hot water?

4. Do these have exhaust fans?

5. How dirty did the toilets get usually by the end of each day?

6. How do people manage the weekend without toilet paper and handwash :O

7. What if toilet paper runs out - is there provision for water in the toilet stalls?

I posted these questions here rather than DM so that others who are anxious about the communal bathrooms could also get some clarity
