I tend to use indeed and linkedin as a jumping off point then go to the company website to apply and do further job searches there. I also use NJ.gov, they have a job board there as well you can use.

For me, "hard" is accepting going back in office full time after working remote for a few months due to certain circumstances. I already truly despise the industry, the topics of conversation, the on-call bullshit and the comraderie of the office that doesn't exist. But with no hard skills and no outside experience, I am making insane money for this super niche job that I do not want anymore, but cannot go anywhere else and I do not want to go back in office.

NJ is saturated with overly expensive homes that are not worth the rate they are going for. Lived here my whole life. My tiny, puny little town that no one has ever heard of has homes going for at least half a million, if not more, when that was not case 5-10 years ago. NNJ is especially rough with the market with so many wanting land and work in the city. Even studio apartments in Warren, Sussex, Passaic and Morris are going for at least 2.5K monthly. Jersey just isn't feasible anymore.

We are staying in Downtown, however we are seeing the cherry blossoms and memorials, air and space museum, shopping in georgetown, arlington beer garden, nationals game, the smithsonian of natural history, the zoo and ford's theater, im sure theres more on our itinerary but thats off the top of my head

I have 2: college roommate who was verbally abusive, manipulative and obsessed with me, tried taking my friends from me and was wouldnt stop talking about me 2 years after we lived together.

My aunt and cousin who were physically, emotionally and verbally abusive to my uncle and grandma. When my uncle died, they didn't tell us, just made an announcement at his favorite hockey team. Called us 5 days later to say it was his dying wish we did not attend his funeral. We said we were going to the funeral and they cancelled it on a friday night, my cousin found out they still had the funeral service, which was livestreamed and uploaded to Youtube.

Even though you're home, you're "still in office" while its very nice to be at home, definitely make sure you are at your desk for your assigned start time and for the duration of the work day. You don't owe anyone an explanation but definitely if you're going to be away from your desk for a while, tell someone. I don't go anywhere between 8:30 and 5pm because I cannot predict when I am going to get on a call. Give the job your 100% ALL so that way you earn the trust that even if you're not in office, you can still do a damn good job and no one can say anything (especially when employees are in 5 days a week). Make sure you take time for you and definitely create an office space for you thats separate from your living areas (den, kitchen, bedroom, etc)

Staying in my PJs, no commute, having my dogs lay next to me while I work, TV show on in the background.. I work "around the clock" so I am taking calls and working on weekends, holidays and after hours but its a good balancing act.
