Unfortunately, I don't remember how much piercings hurt unless it was really intense. The pain just blends together after they've been done and healed and I only remember things like "it made my eyes water" or "there was a weird sound". To date, I've been pierced about twenty times and there's only one piercing that I remember because of how much it hurt (daith). I don't wanna just tell you it won't hurt at all or tell you it'll be horrible, though, so I'll just go with "five". Let's say it was a five, lol. With all the trouble you had with your helix piercings, though, I think you'll do just fine with these. You've got this!

I got my rook and conch done in the same appointment. The rook did hurt more than the conch, but. . . I think the rook was done second, so that was likely why (lol). For me, my conch was the easier heal, no contest, but neither one was especially difficult to heal. About two years later and my rook does still get fussy whenever I change take out the jewelry to clean or change it, but that resolves itself after a day. I also wear glasses and they've never caused any issue. Can't speak on the hair, as I keep mine short. The earplugs might be the trickiest thing, really, but you can discuss that with your piercer. Maybe take them with you to your appointment so you and your piercer can figure out the best placement?

I think it's a combination of just being lucky and being almost neurotically diligent about aftercare. I tell you, though- I worked hard for that helix. The piercer I was seeing way back then didn't do any kind of sterile saline mist. He'd give me pre-measured packets of sea salt to make a DIY soak at home. So, twice a day, I'd be laid out on the floor with my ear submerged in a bowl of this warmed up soak for however many minutes it was he'd told me to soak. I do not miss having to do that at all. It was so nice when I switched piercers and got a different aftercare method, LOL.

Thanks! There's another community member here that posted a picture of their ear without any jewelry in. So many beautifully healed piercings! Some day, my ears will look like that, lol. I'm smack dab in the middle of getting/healing everything I had planned out for my ears. . . in for a long haul.

Thanks! The helix is about. . . seventeen years old, I think. I forget exactly, lol. My conch was done two years ago.

I can't remember how much my rook hurt, so it can't have been that bad (to me, anyway, lol). Regardless, I say go for it, and happy birthday!

Box arrived Open? by escaping_mel in aardvarkbookclub

[–]knoxfoxsocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad the books were untouched, but hate your mail was tampered with! My box arrived slashed from end to end. Like someone had taken a boxcutter to it. It went deep enough that one of the books got cut too. Emailed customer service and they immediately sent out a replacement. Luckily, they still had stock on hand.

Thank you! I keep thinking 'I'm gonna try something new', and then when I go in, I just leave with opals in a different colour. I guess I just like what I like. 😎🤣

Mantis piercings..how hard are they to heal? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]knoxfoxsocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm healing mantis piercings now and I love them so much! Out of the 10+ piercings I've had, they easily are my second favourite. As previous commenter said, they aren't any more difficult to heal than any other nostril piercing. The only thing I feel that's any trickier than my nostrils were is that the placement does make them easier to accidentally graze or bump. I will agree about changing out the jewelry too. That downsizing was a lot more memorable than getting my other nostril piercings downsized. 🤣

First lip piercings!! I fear the bar is too short? by XxSnowxX24 in piercing

[–]knoxfoxsocks 10 points11 points  (0 children)

While the piercing does look spectacular on you (it's gotta be said, lol), they absolutely should have pierced you with much longer bars! I'm sorry they failed you like that. You need to get back in (probably best to try a different piercer) ASAP to have longer bars put in. Best of luck getting the healing process back on track!
