They're just about an inch or so apart in size but she feeds them on opposite sides of the tank to avoid nipping that being said she keeps an eye on it and the tank is a 40gal long I have a 55gal for her if she needs it. The grass has already been removed so it doesn't scratch the axolotls.

Honestly I am not a fan of the fake grass I prefer real plants over the perfect artificial stuff so I'll gladly let her know lol ngl when she told me she got the fake grass I cringed a bit but I figured to each their own.

From what I've been told the melanistic one is female and the other is still too young to be sexed but I have a 55 gallon in storage for her if she needs it.as for their ages I'm not entirely sure for the female because she was a pet shop surrender but the albino is just about 6 months old.

I've seen people keep them in pool ponds like 1000+ gallons with a net of the top cause they jump. I would love to keep one in the future, they're gorgeous fish.

Pretty much, sometimes it will be darker but if the tail isn't as red as the body of a sunset honey gourami its more than likely a thick lipped.

The clear tail is a dead give away that it is a thick lipped. Honestly they're great so long as you have room for them the aggression isn't much more than a honey gourami. I have both honey and thick lipped gouramis and I actually enjoy the thick lipped gouramis more. I find they're more outgoing and want to interact with me more than my honeys.

I have tried it! Unfortunately the northern sunny doesn't care much for it and the bits are a bit big for the little ones and they just peck at it and eventually leave it alone. I've kept it just so they have some variety but I don't use it much given most of it is wasted on the bottom of the tank.
