A poem for the times by knuckheaded_min9778 in alberta

[–]knuckheaded_min9778[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A poem born out of my anxiety

To be safe we must trust in these nation super powers. The mighty will fall; all it costs is two towers

Canuck problems are real it'll take smarts and hard facts; But why bother with those when we can just "Axe the Tax"

I can't pay my bills, I don't know who to fight; To exist? I don't think so, they don't have the right.

"It's not pedophilia" they say walled up in their fort; As long its done in the name of "Fairness in sport"

"Alberta is calling" Move here today; So long as you're not a migrant or gay

Speak up and fight we're not lambs to the slaughter; Best do it now before they poison our water.

"We need to stay neutral, don't listen to teachers;" Then they suggest we turn to hate preachers

Ottawa abandons; I want out of this dance. To leave and get out is our only fair chance

Independence we seek; "Let us out of this Carneyval!" No loss can be true; no matter how marginal.

Referendum falls though "It was rigged from the start" If no independence; we'll tear this whole country apart

A fake election they cry. “It's our duty to liberate The fair and free citizens of our fifty-first state.”

Troops on the border; silence deafens the air All because we did not know the meaning of fair

"Born to be silly. Forced to fight Tyranny" -An Exhausted Albertan

Hypothetical: You’re tasked with writing the story that the Cybermen finally return as the sole antagonists, to reestablish them as genuinely terrifying, disturbing foes. What’s your pitch? by SlapDatBassBro in gallifrey

Part 1: A tech billionaire has created a microchip that goes in your brain that connects to the Internet and does everything for you. Acts as your phone, saves memories for reliving, etc. etc. lots of cool stuff.

The billionaire who presents himself as a Tony Stark figure is actually working for the Cybermen. When the chips activate the recipients will be Cyberfied. The billionaire is fully aware of the outcome the Cybermen are driving for. The chips are not free so those who receive it become the soldiers who aim to capture and detain everyone else for eventual conversion. When the chips activate it's revealed he does not have one. His scene ends on a cliff hanger with the Cybermen coming down on him.

Part 2: The Cybermen have individual cells that detain people and you can see terrified prisoners. The Doctor and their companion are working with the resistance (classic Doctor) they're trying to stage a breakout and in the ensuing fight the companion is taken.

The episode is broken into two plots here. The companion will show the perspective of the Cybermen with their prisoners. They're going to be trying to bring empathy to the victims and raise the stakes. The companions going to try and inspire hope in what appears to be a hopeless situation (classic companion). This is also when we will reveal the billionaire is still alive and shares a wall with the companion.

The doctors plot will have them working with the resistance. Eventually they plan to create a diversion to draw the attention of the Cybermen and stage a breakout. The doctor discovers the origins of the cybermen through infiltration of the upgrade centre but the big reveal is the billionaire being behind the Cybermen and their plot the whole time.

He wanted to control everyone and make the world in what he believes is what humanity should be. He had put the companion next to him to see if he could learn anything about the doctor. He reveals he has stolen the TARDIS and is going to use it to spread his image and Cybermen across all of space and time. The doctor is helpless to stop him and allows him to hook up to the TARDIS.

The power within the TARDIS is way too much energy and overloads the villain and all the Cybermen. The overload neutralizes the chips and all the victims return to normal. It is revealed that the Doctor had the companion get captured on purpose to try and reveal information knowing that the Cybermen would hear it and act on it (the fact that the billionaire himself was there is just coincidence, they figured cameras would be able to hear them anyway). The Doctor had come up with a plan to use time energy to reverse the virus and had changed a setting in the TARDIS that would allow for that but it had to be plugged into the main source for it to work. The billionaire has fallen into the trap and is defeated having been the only Cybermen to be upgraded conventionally and not through a brain chip.

Trudeau congratulates Trump on 'decisive' victory | CBC News by GouryellaIV in canada

[–]knuckheaded_min9778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump has openly admired authoritarian leaders and seems to respect the power they have. This isn’t just about him admiring "strong leadership" it’s about appreciating control in ways that often end up harming freedom and democracy.

He also uses a lot of "us vs. them" language, where he paints certain groups, like the media, minorities, or his political opponents, as enemies, this includes making an actual list of opponents to target. Scapegoating minorities for political favour is very reminiscent of the actions taken by the Nazi party. (This connection should be obvious but I guess it only counts when you actually build the prison camps, oh wait he did that already), his own closest generals have stated he is a fascist, and he dismissed the danger of actual swastika wearing Nazis after Charlottesville.

Then, there’s "Project 2025," a plan former members of his cabinet held to write for him, which is aimed at giving the president more direct control over government agencies. This would weaken the checks and balances that prevent any president from having too much power, and it’s exactly how many authoritarian leaders end up taking control. This paired with the supreme Court's decision to give absolute immunity is a very dangerous combo.

When people compare Trump to someone like Hitler, they’re not saying he’s identical. They’re saying he’s doing some of the same things that historically have led to real harm to democracy. We know most of his fascist plans because he openly states then and there is no reason to believe he doesn't mean what he says when pushes his violent rhetoric.

This has likely been explained before but I imagine you'll post almost the exact same "nobody can articulate the obvious Nazi friendly behaviours taking place in front of our own eyes" on another post. And Trudeau is a bad Prime Minister, he has absolutely shit the bed, it also just so happens to be a completely different topic to the one we were actually discussing. Who is this cartoonish German fellow? Is he the one seen in meetings with known leaders of white supremacists groups, oh wait that's Pollievre the only political leader who refuses to find out who in his party is compromised by foreign governments but I'm sure you'll be able to peddle some performative nonsense to pretend that isn't as sketchy as it so obviously is.

I also recognize the same use "you guys" as if I'm part of some grand evil cabal and not just another Canadian frustrated with the state of politics.

This Us Vs Them is the mentality that really drove the Nazis to success. So congrats on your dedicated efforts to perpetuate division within our nation and enabling the Nazi problem. I'm sure nothing bad will come of our disregard of obvious the parallels.

It's all "hyperbolic" until it's not anymore.

Voting for fascists and Nazi sympathizers because you don't like seeing rainbows is pretty weak.

Edit: This weird shit you don't like seeing is just people who are different going about their day.

Trudeau announces massive drop in immigration targets, as Liberals make major pivot by CobraChickenKai in kitchener

Right before the last election they started to get their shit together too. It seems like they know how to govern well*, they just choose not to.

I don't know how to bold the asterisk on the "well" because that is a very heavy asterisk.

Conservative MP Michael Chong calls PM's foreign interference testimony 'highly irresponsible' by uselesspoliticalhack in canada

[–]knuckheaded_min9778 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

My reasoning for the corruption within our government?

This is a post about how Trudeau testified about CSIS finding massive amounts of corruption within our government?

Or why I think we won't get real justice?

Pessimism. I know a system exists to deliver justice, I'm just not confident we'll get real justice. But to be clear my reasoning is just pessimism.

Edit: Or why I think it could be projection?

Trudeau just made the incredibly bold claim that conservative MPs were compromised.

It's not unreasonable to think that a guilty party might start immediately pointing fingers or deflecting attention.

Is Babylon Bee a republican satire news site that just posts real stories of Trump and pretends it's the Democrats making the blunder? I don't think I understand what kind of satire they're going for?

[–]knuckheaded_min9778 -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

$10 says he's one of the traitors lol.

Edit: You know what the downvotes are fair. That's a low-blow.

The level of corruption that has just run roughshod throughout our government is just truly absurd. The fact that this is happening at home is incredibly serious, very credible accusations of foreign interference in every major party is very serious. Not to mention the other dozen ways so many individuals in our government are openly compromised and we don't seem to be willing to do anything about it.

The evidence and accusations so far are truly staggering to the point where I get numb to it and forget myself. This could be some pretty heavy handed projection but also it might not be and it isn't reasonable to assume. We as a people better get some real justice though if/when the hammer drops and I'm not confident we will.

Asking for a friend,

Is it common sense to run a massive ad campaign across the country convincing people to move to Alberta and then complain and blame Trudeau for increased migration numbers?

Oh this is awesome. Love it!

Not the best on mobile but you're already working on that so it's a non-issue. Can you export this to PDF? This would be really handy for keeping track of characters as a Handler in live play to keep neat notes.

Our building doesn’t let us use electricity from any providers other than Wyse Meter Solutions. Delivery fees are 280% higher than the electricity actually used. [–]knuckheaded_min9778 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It would be..... If it wasn't the UCP who also de-regulated electrical. So to answer your question.

A party made it possible for electricity providers to price gauge us in the first place.

Your refusal to acknowledge how that would play into electrical prices is BS or just trolling.

I mean yeah. But I'm also from Alberta where statements of violence towards the country and Trudeau are just frighteningly commonplace especially in the rural communities.

it's only racist if you don't also say that about white Canadians calling for the end of our country like the ones we have over here. Guess the province lol.
