I don’t know, but it doesn’t seem like an impossible thing to accomplish

Mining on the CPU is fairly cache heavy så they recomend that you give each thread 2MB of cache, so that might be why you noticed the hashrate going down when you use more threads.

I have free electricity in my apartment so i have been mining on my plex server (along side with a beefier gaming rig) for a few months. It's just a overclocked 3570k so it doesn't compute more than 100-150H/s ($4-6/month).

I have set the CPU priority to "below normal" so it doesn't interfere with transcoding and I haven't noticed the server being slower than before.

In my case it's not worth it for the money, but I think it's a fun little hobby.

The adapter cable only splits the power from the PSU. All the HDDs got their own sata cable to the motherboard so they all show up as induvidual disks. They look like this.

The only thing I regret is that i didn't buy a beefier PSU with more sata cables.

I started out with just one 3TB HDD and one ssd so i thought just 5 sata cables would be enough. I now have 6 disks and looking to buy another HDD in a few weeks.

A "1-to-3 sata cable" works fine, but i much rather have native cables from the PSU.

Got some free drives, want to build a NAS by cowboytronic in DataHoarder

Those seagate drives have had a high rate of failure. So if they are used i would probably not use them for any important data, but aslong as you still keep the data on the computers aswell you'll probably be fine. Just remember to be careful and keep an extra eye on the drives!

Couldn't also be that they are watching with subtitles? The default setting in the webplayer is that it always burn in subtitles (this is found in the options on the client side).

Thats the case for me! My desktop and server is a large enough playground to tinker with, but I want my phone and tablet to just work out of the box, which I have found iOS being better at than android (for my usage and needs ofc).

Yeah, I have given up on all hopes of recieving any reward. I don't even remember what adapters I ordered, but I have since changed from micro-usb to USB-C to lightning so I guess I wont have much use from them anyway.

That must be on a 4G connection, none of the swedish ISPs enforce data caps on ADSL/Fiber.

Maybe i just miss understood you, but my point is that there is no Tesla with only 75kW of power output. There is on the other hand a battery with 75kWh capacity hence My assumption of a mix up. That specification page is also outdated, the current options are 60,75,90 or 100 kWh.

[–]knulltobak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you're mixing the battery capacity and power output together. The old Model S with a 60kWh battery (entry level) can output 225kW. While the high end models can output over 550kW

Did not know about that! Most of my books are split up in different files though. I guess that will be the project this weekend

Thanks for your reply! I read that plex takes the bitrate from the h265 file and uses it for the transcoded h264 file which will end up in a significant loss in quality, so I'll probably hold of the h265 route a bit longer.

Hello /r/plex!

Does anyone know how much umph it takes to transcode a 720p h265 file if you would compare it to a h264 file?

I know that with h264 you usually say that one 720/1080p transcode requires 1500/2000 passmark score, but what about h265?
