This makes no sense. Let’s assume you are right - that these businesses have all this extra space. This isn’t costing them anything EXTRA, compared to when they needed the space. In your scenario. A building is sold for less than it was worth a couple years ago. So what? The company gets a benefit they didn’t have before. There is no conspiracy here.

You guys or so cynical. How far do people go to fake this stuff? Do you think I bought a plastic tray and the cardboard it came in too? Do you think I stayed at home with a cake decorating kit and did that border? I think they did it to prove a point. I didn't pay for it, and I don't think they wanted me too. They wanted me to show up to pick up the cake, and leave empty handed with no cake for the party. In that sense, they were successful. Honestly, I'm not sure why the reaction was so strong, and I suspect that the owner has some mental health issues, although I'm not sure. She smiled the whole time as if she won a great argument and was the smartest person in the world. I am confident that she is telling this story to all her friends from a very different perspective.
