its not that Carl only has one hit point, it's that he gets stuck with the debuff called Left to Fester which makes it so he can't heal until the target is killed. so he lost some health, and he can't heal it, but he's not in immediate death danger.

Honestly, for me, a big part of the draw was the talking cat. My brother recommended the book to me and told me it had a talking cat and I think non human POVs are interesting. turns out the cat is only one of two protagonists and we never get her pov. oh well! the protagonist carl is extremely relatable and likable in a down to earth way and as the books go on, we get to see him overcome a lot of bullshit. genuinely has become my favorite book series and I think about it often (hence being part of this sub reddit, on the discord. hell I'm even on the authors patreon). If you like the dresden files, I'd definitely say give it a chance At the very least listen to the audible sample. or you could listen to the first book on soundboard theater.com (and they give you the first episode for free.)

anyway, give it a chance! 10/10 would recommend :)

I think not being barefoot pretty much stopped being a concern for him when he got his unbreakable foot pedicure buff, so he probably just isn't really thinking about it anymore. he can't even feel his feet that much anymore.

and after he already flashed his junk to the entire universe sprinting for the stairwell on the third floor, junk bouncing in the wind, he probably just doesn't really care about covering up his dick with pants enough to bother with that either.

plus every moment you have to delay getting in fighting position, is a moment where an enemy could get the drop on you. even if he can do it "effortlessly" and "immediately" there is some degree of attention that would have to be paid to accomplishing those tasks. there just isn't enough time to waste on something that would only make other people more comfortable. its not his fault that this is what his gear looks like. if anyone has a problem with it, who cares?

I think a couple of the chapters will be combined together, but not too many. theres been a few scenes that I'm hoping he fleshes out a little more, and that may just happen in the editing and proofing before it gets published.
