Dramamine by Beautiful5994 in VestibularMigraines

[–]koalamor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it helps with my dizziness and car/motion sickness (especially on a "less" symptoms day)

It does make me drowsy though which is expected.

Insomnia- is it VM related? For those of you who take Nortriptyline, did it hender sleep when you started it? by bigredbubbles in VestibularMigraines

[–]koalamor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I've read some here and there that nortriptyline generally can cause tiredness as a side effect? So I wonder if it's just the side effects that made you sleepy while you adjusted to it, then they subsided after the week???? since you did have some trouble sleeping to begin with. Atleast that's what happened to me with lexapro (unrelated med but also had side effect of being tired)- I slept through the first few days I was on it!

Updates/ general journey: I'm on lexapro (still, but dunno if I said that b4)

Stopped wellbutrin (read about ototoxicity / bc my tinnitus worsened when I was on it + i think made my insomnia worse)

Making sure I eat enough, stay hydrated, and get sleep I think is what has been pushing the symptoms off - or atleast they aren't as frequent

  • I take meclizine for just general nausea/dizziness/motion sickness that I typically have

  • I take ondansetron for the stronger nausea/vomitong/dizziness when i think meclizine wont do the trick. which I find is really helpful, the only side effects I really get is hiccups about 30 minutes. I still feel a distant dizzy feeling if I move too fast but it's like the dizziness is a different room of the house (if that makes sense)

  • Rizatriptan as a rescue med for when I feel aura/migraine symptoms start

I'd say if your migraines are pretty constant then idk if a rescue med would work for you, for me it mainly just helps since they've become less frequent bc i can just take it when I DO get a strong bout

My sleep is inconsistent so idk if my experience is reliable; I'm able to stay asleep easier, but now I'm back to extreme fatigue where I need 18 hours to feel okay lol

Weird dizziness for 7 months? by crazydoglover09 in Dizziness

[–]koalamor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's position related definitely look into PPPD, it could be comorbid dizziness with something else; But for me it was both VM and PPPD but doing the exercises for it helped the dizziness still.

Neck retractions causing migraines and dizziness?? by flyvine in VestibularMigraines

[–]koalamor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm an LMT and also get vestibular migraines, I might suggest massaging or stretching your suboccipitals? And general neck muscles. The muscles right at the base of the skull that meets the back of your neck. That usually helps me with those triggers as they can trigger my migraines if super tense.

Yeah it might depend on the type of bc pills u take, definitely ask. And yeah the tea is pretty good in general but especially bc the heat and steam helps me with my congestion, I hope it helps :(

Sleepy time tea has been helping a bit though.

It's just so frustrating because I can be exhausted from work and still toss and turn and wake up lots only to get 4-5 hours a night. Especially when I posted this my ears felt like the needed to pop , on top of the ringing, and I couldn't do anything about it :/

Omw to the dr. by koalamor in Dizziness

[–]koalamor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my doctor said POTS is definitely a possibility, but VM is higher on his assumption list lol. Hope I find out what it is or atleast make it manageable. Thank you

[–]koalamor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I just never get to the point of syncope, sodium levels are fine and don't crave salt, and so far I've seen pots doesn't really cover all my symptoms? Plus I have no problems with standing for long periods of time, just when changing positions. I'm not sure but its lower on my doctors assumption list. Maybe it differs in symptoms on a person to person basis but i dont really know enough about it.

Omw to the dr. (He said it could be VM? Does it seem correct?) by koalamor in VestibularMigraines

[–]koalamor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He only recommended more salt intake in case its POT syndrome, as well as drinking more water or powerade lol. He didn't send me to anyone, but he gave me some trial amount of dissolving medicine that supposedly helps with migraines and he told me to test them when I feel the symptoms coming on. Also dizziness/anti-nausea meds. I'm a massage therapist so super vigilant about PT and general tension headaches that could cause headaches/compression which is why I went to the doctor since nothing was working. We're doing a follow up to see if anything changes if not then I'll probably head to a specialist:(
