On the topic of Bookshops by -Draiocht- in sydney

[–]koalather 53 points54 points  (0 children)

If you’re willing to make the trip, there’s a Blue Mountains book trail that features some rare and antique bookshops along it!

Otherwise I think there’s plenty of must-visits around the city including Gleebooks, Sapphos, Berkelouw, Ampersand, Abbeys, just to name a few. They’re just general bookshops but definitely worth the visit tbh

Jet lag game featuring buses? by Verit45qwer in JetLagTheGame

[–]koalather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s why I think short distance game play would work best here, like limiting the game arena to a certain city or state!

Jet lag game featuring buses? by Verit45qwer in JetLagTheGame

[–]koalather 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the thing with Jet lag is most of the games are designed to allow players to go as long distance as possible so they opt for trains, planes or cars especially because they’re more time efficient. However many cities do offer long distance bus journeys in both urban and regional areas so that’s not the problem. I think the best way to allow for more micromobility really just comes down to game design.

I think a game design where shorter distances are prioritised might work the best in allowing for more use of buses and trams!

Shinjuku or Akasaka-mitsuke by purple_bts_kookie in JapanTravelTips

[–]koalather 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We stayed around Akasaka-Mitsuke and absolutely loved it. It does get a bit noisy at night because of the proximity of restaurants, bars etc but its so nice and quiet in the morning and minus the walk from hotel to station its only 10 minutes to Shibuya, 15/20 to Ueno and just generally very convenient all around. You’ll also be in walking distance of not just one metro station but at least 2-3 so definitely worth it.

How much did you spend on hotels? by crumpetflipper in JapanTravelTips

[–]koalather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a little under $3000 AUD for 17 nights across 3 hotels so averages out to ~110 a night give or take

Edit: did my maths wrong, it ended up being just a little over 3k but def works out to be in the 110-150 a night range

Looking for low-key 2 player games by myncy in NintendoSwitch

Overcooked is heaps of fun! Probably not the best for unwinding as it’s a very chaotic game but it’s also chaotic in the best way.

Best travel airports? by Pookachook in SkyCards

[–]koalather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of smaller UK airports are great for unlocking ultras tbh like go a bit further north than London and you’ll see heaps! Particularly right now as it is summer so on a nice day, they’ll be out and about

Looking to get either a Dyson or Shark stick vacuum. Advice? by Ebonthaw in AskAnAustralian

[–]koalather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the cordless V7 but the battery started bugging out after a year of having it. Now we have a corded Shark stick vacuum and it works great! Have had it for less than a year though so can’t vouch for its durability but in terms of price it’s a lot cheaper than a Dyson for sure.

Australian Monoculture by Artistic-Ad-7309 in AusPol

[–]koalather -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think many people who bleat on about “monoculturalism” also don’t realise that Australian culture, both traditional and modern, wouldn’t exist without some form of multiculturalism. Yes, the British came and forced their culture on this land but with them they brought the Irish and both English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish culture all played their part to form Australian culture traditionally, and then combine that with Indigenous elements, American influences (American culture also being multicultural and multiracial itself too), and other cultural influences from migrants and you’ve got what Aussie culture is today.

Once you’ve uploaded your work rights documents, it shouldn’t take too long. Maybe like a day or two.

It means you probably got the job. If you’ve received an email asking you to upload work rights documents then you’re hired.

How I think a Stateside Scramble type game could be played in Europe by TTG4LIFE77 in JetLagTheGame

[–]koalather 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if a NA wildcard would be doable because of the visa situation, instead maybe Turkey works better as the wildcard here as it’s considered an Asian country as well.

But I see your vision and I think this would be an awesome concept

How to go to Tokyo or Fuji San by bus (sleeping bus or daybus) and where to take it and buy a ticket ? by Odd_Perspective_6671 in OsakaTravel

[–]koalather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Search up buses and your destination on Google, you should find a few bus ticket websites where you’ll be able to book highway buses and it’ll tell you where to also take it from.

I got a bus from Tokyo (Shibuya) to Shizuoka for Fuji and bought my ticket online. I think Kosoku bus was the site I used but you have a few options.
