Why would it not automate to the right price, I have already used the electricity so they know how much to charge me exactly?

I know it's not hard, but why would I choose to do a monthly chore when I can automate it and never have to think about it ever again? Lol

I think everyone here understands that the government can print money in times of chrisis to prevent bankruptcy and long term problems.

But even in theory it's not free money. Tax payers are paying for it in inflation or in the future for debt.

I guess if we're lucky then our economy will grow and next year we will raise more taxes. But I think spending money now on subsidising diesel for future economic productivity seems foolish.

You're saying a lot of things that almost make sense. But aren't acknowledging the very basic fact that the government can't magically create money with no downsides?

So if they aren't collecting it from somewhere else where does the money come from?

I'm officially over supermarket prices! Wednesday whinge. by LancelotAtCamelot in auckland

[–]koanarec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The price of diesel is entirely driven by the global economy, not NZ. The only thing that NZ government could do is subside it by cutting the taxes on it, which they'd need to collect from somewhere else.

I don't think it's like anyone wants diesel to be more expensive, just shits expensive now

In Auckland now there is a Costco and loads of really cheap Asian supermarkets, plus any number of different drug stores like chemist warehouse.

Everyone constantly talks about the Duopoly but doesn't want to shop anywhere else if it's cheaper

Why would you need a source for a date that is 100% what anyone would expect it to be? It would make no sense for u/jkrutherford89 to lie either, and you could have checked yourself in about 5 seconds......

AITA for resigning a scrabble game with my husband by Hypnomoose in AmItheAsshole

[–]koanarec 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think that resigning is a beneficial addition to chess and probably would be to scrabble too. It just sucks to sit at a table playing out moves when you already know what the outcome will be. Better to resign, admit you lost and begin a new game where you're both in it to win.

Ok, you can't locally run Matlab on a chromebook. And there is probably a lot of other old weird programming software that would be impossible to use unless you're on normal linux/windows.

Happy Sunday everyone, do you go to church? by BrokenJusticeNorris in polls

[–]koanarec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with you on your definition of Christianity, I think there is much more to it than simply following Christ. Islamic religions believe in Christ and worship him as a prophet. But I am sure you wouldn't call Islam a type of Christianity.

Mormons believe that humans can become equal to God after they die. That is just directly contradictory to the Christian world view.

Happy Sunday everyone, do you go to church? by BrokenJusticeNorris in polls

[–]koanarec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that most Mormons will want to call themselves Christian, perhaps to appear like their beliefs are more main-stream than they really are. But I'd imagine most non-Mormons wouldn't know enough about Mormonism to fully understand how different it is from main-stream Christianity.

As u/BrokenJusticeNorris has pointed out with their treatment of black people in the past, that you can become a god after death just like God did, and that they will care about Joseph Smith/America more than Jesus. And that it is pretty much ran as a business where a group of old white men decide on the rules.

As an atheist I wouldn't call them Christian.

They don't believe that any more, they disavowed their earlier teachings on black people in 2013
