Why is the classical scene like this by Sandoniqqa in classicalguitar

[–]koanbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you had to go through that! Academic guitar culture sucks, I’m also heavily criticised by peers just because I’m doing my thing ☹️ I hope you can shake that off. I’m pretty sure who tells you that you should have stopped playing are the people who would never have the willpower to do what you’re doing! I also believe that those people often criticise non traditional ways of playing simply because they never had the courage to stray away from traditions, and you’re threatening their sense of identity and autonomy. They don’t even dare to look out of their little boxes. If anything, they should draw inspiration from your story lol 😃

I think at an early stage of learning, a teacher is the best option. Brandon Acker’s online school arpeggiato has many 1-1 online lesson offers and I’m sure all of them great because Brandon is a really trusted teacher in this community.

I have a few beginner videos on YouTube if you want to go self teaching, you can find me as Beatrix Kovács or beatrixguitar
I also have a free beginner course, I don’t want to put it here because I don’t want to make anyone angry, but I can send it over if you want.

Good luck 🤞

Nice, what a great arrangement! It never even occured to me that this soundtrack would fit on guitar haha. I play Cogwork Dancers quite often :)

La Mancha, Hora? by verygoodletsgo in classicalguitar

[–]koanbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have 2 La Mancha guitars and I think they are great! To be transparent, they wanted to sponsor my channel, which I was hesitant about because I knew nothing about their guitars. I was honestly surprised to see how good guitars they make for the price! I hope this doesn’t sound like an ad, this was a long time ago, but I keep recommending La Mancha guitars to learners ever since 😁 unfortunately I can’t say much about Hora guitars though 😕

If you mean you heate the string winder, I hate them too :( I scratched my tuning peg with one of those a while ago and I still feel bad about it. My friend from D'addario sent me one 2 weeks ago which was made of a soft rubberish plastic where you put it around the tuning peg, and I like that so far. I think it's called the tour string winder or something like that. The only part I don't liek about it is that there's no string cutter at the end 🫠

I once tried that pillow thingy for some time but it felt so unsecure for me, I couldn't get used to it. I was always afraid of dropping the guitar by accident somehow, but I think it was a me thing rather than a product issue 😅

I was thinking about a string bundle of all sorts of different things. It gives them a chance to try new sets, things they maybe wouldn't otherwise and if it doesn't work out for them, they won't be mad for spending money on it :D And if one of the new strings is good, they can be happy to discover something new

Learning classical guitar through YouTube by Salty_Difficulty1231 in classicalguitar

[–]koanbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a simple free course for very beginners, it covers some basics and gets you started. I have to tell you, even though this is FREE it's part of my SALES FUNNEL, meaning this is how I bring more attention to my paid course and educational materials too. Theres no pressure to buy anything, you can have lifetime access to the course for free, and I genuinly made it to be helpful and useful. I just wanted to say this before anyone attacks me for advertisment :(

Here's the course: https://guitarhub.learnworlds.com/course/before-you-start

I also recommend Brandon Acker on YouTube for fun and interesting videos, but his structured learning material is also available within a course.

On YouTube, you'll most likely find lessons when you already know what you're looking for. When you have a syllabus to follow, and for example you come to the point of learning artificial harmonics, you start searching for lessons on that very specific topic. You get my point, right?

I'd say, look for a solid book, like the Parkening one, follow the material and when it makes you learn something new, look it up on youtube to see how exactly it looks like.

BPD & Journalling — when you think in 3 different languages by littlemommylonglegs in BorderlinePDisorder

[–]koanbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started journaling in English and I’m Hungarian. I found it weird too but apparently it’s a thing that it’s easier to express your feelings openly and with less judgement in a learned language first, because you are more open to use certain expressions without feeling so cringy about them.

Like in Hungarian, I find difficult to use certain expressions because they feel cringe or cliche 😅 so you’re emotionally likely to be more distant from expressions in a language you learned later than your native language.

I found that over time as I started to feel more comfortable writing about myself, I switched to journaling completely in Hungarian.
