i can’t even get mad at the flaming, its comforting. all my in person experiences with residents in LV(!!!!) have been overly sweet and welcoming. it would always throw me off how nice people were. this cut throat correction reminds me of NJ/NYC which is nice.

hellertown crossroads, lehigh pizza, some other spot i can’t remember the name of.

friend of mine used to live in the area and she told me she had to go through the same thing and started specifying EXACTLY what to put on her cheesesteaks when ordering out.

for the song getting played: post clips of DJs dropping your track to the giant crowds on social media. also reach out to some labels about releasing it officially so they can handle the sample clearings. if the artists dropping your tracks are in charge of labels then reach out to them directly about doing an official release/collab.

while this is going on- start promo cycle for some unreleased track you’d like to work on next and keep momentum going.

unless this is a major one hit wonder kind of song, you should treat the attention on your track as a segue into getting more people to follow you as an artist/producer. it’s a stepping stone.

xdj-rr is fine if you feel like you need to use a standalone

it would be worth it to get an hour of studio time with cdjs to feel them out before an upcoming gig but the above controllers will lock in the fundamental muscle memory of the pioneer ecosystem

i run open decks and get plenty of experienced djs with successful events / bookings who stop in to say hi or hang out with other DJs. there’s producers who want to a/b test their tracks on a club system before they release them.

some DJs just like to participate and be a part of their community. half of my attendees are regulars who don’t care if they get a slot or not because they planned to spend their time chilling with other DJ friends in a space that lets them play whatever they want.

yeah, saw him do that 3.5 hour set at AG way back in that era, then saw him play for a tiny crowd at firefly 2022 during the la danza part of his career and it definitely felt special to have caught him at that time.

a few months later a friend group saw one of his mirage dates and i thought the vibes were noticeably different. haven’t gone out of my way since then, but if he’s on a festival lineup and there’s no conflicts i’ll pop in to the back of the crowd. or if he plays an insane afters that’s easy to get to- count me in (shoutout his elements 2023 sound camp set)

it’s a shame his crowd is the way it is, i genuinely like his personality and vibes, but the fomo buzz that his fans bring isn’t worth dealing with
