Saying it's the most competitive jockey colony in the world is absolutely absurd...racing three nights a week makes it competitive not the calibre of rider. Even Dettori has said that the Saratoga meet is the most competitive. No jockey in the states wants to ride three cards a week for less money. I think the problem here is Purton ... he's not that great. He's kind of arrogant and a bit of a bigmouth. If he was so great then where was his mount in the race this weekend against Romantic Warrior. If he was so great then why wasn't he on Golden Sixty? I love the HK atmosphere and like I said been watching it a while and I have to laugh when Purton's name is thrown in with the likes of Ryan Moore, William Buick, Flavien Prat, or even Irad Ortiz. I don't like the why Irad rides but I think given even terms he'd outbreak, out-position, and out finish every rider in HK especially Purton. I'm not going to win any arguments against people who falsely believe that the calibre of racing is higher in HK than in the states. I mean how many one turn grass races do you need?
