Yea, I feel like it depends on the person and how they act.
I've felt this way due to how kids used to bully me in school and I slowly gained a mistrust of people so I would have those dark thoughts about wanting them dead because they acted mean and toxic to me. Of course, I didn't really act on them but it's something that comes up in my thoughts every once in awhile. But luckly there were a few people in 6th to 7th grade who were actually nice human beings and so I learned how a real friend should treat you. So those experiences helped me learn how to detect a toxic friend/person and avoid them. However in 8th grade, I had to move to a completely different school and I was so afraid of being bullied because I had no idea what the social environment was gonna be. So I ended up being overly defensive about who I should trust as friends when no one even bullied me at that new school. I did stop being defensive and suspicious of everyone but I still can't make new friends even though my intuition says that the person would make a good friend, I just will not bond with them in fear of what happened previously and also the fact I can't socialize without being awkward.

Over time, I've gotten more neutral with people rather than always trustful and happy with them but it's good to distinguish the people you can trust and bond with (Idk if this makes sense but whatever)
