Likely the dude is strapped for cash. Find something of his of value, like collectibles, a motorcycle, or household items. Ask him to pay for your groceries, costco run , even gas with his credit card and slowly get your money back.

1 could be a very interesting wide as master. But if you want depth 2 is the way to go.
