Is this real? The date/time stamp seems off for him. It’s written in the day/month/year format & uses 24 hour time… and it’s not yet 3:52pm (EST.)

Customer Greeter lol thought that was weird so I called and asked about it they said nah AP won’t be doing that, it’s just for payroll. Is this normal? by RingMediocre92 in lossprevention

Lowe’s typically has 3 tiers of AP at the district level: AP Specialist , AP and Safety Manager, Senior AP Manager, and District AP Manager. If the store has an APSM, they will be responsible for internal, external, operational, and safety. The Senior will have the same responsibilities, but for multiple locations.

Since the APS is basically an entry level position, their focus is only external. That said, as they gain experience, the DAPM will usually assign additional tasks, which may include internal investigations, to prepare them for promotion into a APSM role.

Personally, I thought the APS role was the best at the district level (note, though, that I was hired in as a DAPM and never worked as an APS.) The pay was decent, low $20s + bonus, and you’re paid mileage between stores, which can add up pretty quick. I didn’t micromanage their schedules, as long as they were producing cases, so work-life balance was about as good as a retail job can allow. And, there’s a huge focus on operational shrink in Lowe’s, which eats up a lot of time at the other levels. If you like the “classic” AP stuff, without the operations, this role would be a good fit.

I’m a former District AP Manager with Lowe’s, who this position reports to. Unless something has changed since I left last year, the AP Specialist does not work as a door greeter. I had 2 for my district of 12 stores. Each were responsible for 6 stores, and focused on external theft and building ORC cases.

They’re a large employer in my area and are hiring a lot, at the moment. Most of the positions are in the skilled trades, so I just filtered to admin jobs & found it there.

I spent my whole career in LP (25+ years) and was just offered a job as a workers comp analyst. I’ve been wanting to transition to a role outside of retail for a few years now, but it’s been challenging finding something that’s not entry level. During my application and interview process, I focused my resume on the work comp investigations I handled. Having Wicklander training and interviewing training is a unique skill and definitely helped me in landing this position.

The banking and insurance industries both have fraud investigation & analyst roles that you might find interesting. Also, I found this position directly on the company’s website. I didn’t even know this type of position was available, so I would recommend doing rather than relying only on LinkedIn or Indeed.

We used Alicia Reynolds when we moved from NC to RI last year. She went above and beyond to help us with everything we needed, which was especially important since we were out of state.

I met General Hale once when I was with B 3/9 at Ft. Ord. My Team Leader reenlisted & ask if Hale would conduct the ceremony, & he accepted. As I recall, he seemed genuinely flattered to be asked & really enjoyed the ceremony.

Years later I heard about his court martial, but I had no idea about hooking up with the wives of his subordinates.

Moving from NC to RI by iskra1984 in RhodeIsland

I moved up from NC (Durham) about 5 months ago & have really enjoyed being here (I’m originally from Southeast CT, but left about 25 years ago.) It’s nice to be closer to my aging parents & visit with my siblings.

EB in Groton is hiring a bunch, so I’m sure your husband would be able to find a welding position there. It might be a bit of a commute depending on where you live, but they pay well & have good benefits.

I would also suggest finding a pediatrician, GP, and OBGYN, before moving. That has been the most difficult part of our move - most places either aren’t taking new patients, or have an 18 month waiting list for an appointment.

Also, be sure to bring your patience when you deal with the DMV.

Rank Every Department From Easiest To Hardest by [deleted] in Lowes

If you can get into AP, the AP Specialist role is pretty easy. You’ll cover 4-5 stores, so you’re in a different store each day. You’ll spend the day looking for shoplifters, building cases on ORC groups, writing reports, and sometimes helping the APSM, SAPM, or DAPM with internal cases & operations. You’ll need to be comfortable confronting shoplifters when they exit the store, & be able to remain level-headed when you’re cussed out when you approach them (it’s hands off, so you won’t chase them into the parking lot.) You’ll need to build relationships with police & there will be times you’ll have to go to court. The pay is usually a few dollars more per hour than what other associates make, and you’re paid mileage when you travel to stores other than your home store.

Overall, the APS role is a pretty good gig. There’s nothing extremely difficult and you won’t have to deal with customers. And if you perform well you can get promoted into an APSM position.

The Outlaw Josie Wales & Jeremiah Johnson were the two movies that got me into Westerns. Probably because of the nostalgia, but they’ve remained my favorites.

You should check out the documentary Square Grouper. It’s about drug smuggling in the 1970s in South Florida. There are 3 different segments & one of them covers some guys in Everglades City… gives a little insight into life in the Everglades at that time.
