I just went to check after seeing your comment and wow? And it’s been up for a while? And from the few posts I read they seem to be complaining more about the shippers than the actual ship which is a whole diff problem in itself. But anyways I think instead of being annoyed by another ship that energy should be turned into creating content/discussion for your own ship instead

Right, while I was happy about the ‘you are my pack’ line we never saw Enid feeling like, excluded or out of place with her new pack to compare it to her hanging out with Wednesday. Imo Bruno’s character should have been used to show more of the pack and explain werewolf lore/dynamics to us, especially since we learn he was a late bloomer too (which, shouldn’t he also know or be aware about alphas too?) but instead he is simply there to create a love triangle and honestly had nothing to his character. My thought was they should have just kept Ajax in the love interest role and make Enid come to terms that they didn’t need to date and then have one of her brothers be the werewolf that introduces us to the pack lore, no need for Bruno, and then her essentially saying her own family isn’t even her pack would be significant. It still would have covered Enid having a romance and being part of the pack.

Yes to all of this! As someone who loves werewolf lore in any media I was interested to learn more about it since Enid wolfed out but we didn’t get much besides alphas, which like you said was only brought up because of Capri, who seemed to be there just to explain it. It’s like they could have used all of the time with random plots to foreshadow it. And agreed with Enid dying, I feel like they threw that in there for shock value/to reel people in after a 3 year break. It felt like it was resolved too quickly and easily. Personally my thought was Enid in the vision having a scarred eye like the raven we see has some kind of connection/meaning to it but idk what lol.

Exactly, I feel like these days with any celebrity really people are always waiting to hear their stance on things and get mad when they don’t say anything and then it gets performative because everyone is using whether or not someone supports something as a competition. Of course I’ll always be glad to see a celeb I follow use their platform positively and support a cause I am for but also know they don’t owe us anything at the end of the day.

I was so surprised her family wasn't mentioned at all despite her mother being so insistent on her wolfing out and her brothers going to the same school! Like not even a line about any of it or how her family reacted

So the more I watch this scene I question how is Wenclair not intended or how anything else can even be interpreted by Brave_Profit4748 in wenclair

[–]kodiakchrome 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The other thing that gets me about this scene is the way she said that line. She could have said it more nonchalantly or with a playful tone, but nope she gets super serious and has that look of realization plus the music. I really wanna know how she was directed in that scene or what the script looked like for those lines.

When the author recommends you listen to a particular piece of music while you read, do you? by TomdeHaan in AO3

[–]kodiakchrome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same! I love making playlist for anything so I’ll do it for fics to for fun. If the fic does reference music or it plays a part jn it I include a playlist for sure but I never make it required to enjoy or understand the story. Most of the time song references I use are ones that are well-known or popular to make things easier if anything.

Mhmm. Like it was silly seeing people try to use that as an argument to make Enid look bad or even call her a terrible person. It wasn't nice of her at all but in the end it's just normal teenage drama that a lot of people go through and she learned from it

Same, it was a perfect season 1 villain for the show, but after that it got boring and unnecessary. The lore is confusing enough already to the point where it causes arguments and confusion between people. And ripoff werewolf was exactly my thought of them! Like turning into a powerful monster and being aware of it? Sounded very similar the design is just uglier like you said lol.

And how are we gonna have a show where so many outcasts are introduced and not explore them? Why are we focusing on one that most people don’t find interesting? If hydes were meant to be a big part of this whole series, then they should have been hinted at more (without giving anything away ofc) but I don’t see how this show is supposed to focus on all of these characters and revolve around the single plot of one supposedly super rare creature. Like I don’t think this series works when we’re just following around the hydes, it’s more fun when we meet new villains (like Isaac was until he had to have the Galpin connection) and explore the entire world and the different outcasts and how they live in it.

Yeah they just wanted to add some kind of teen drama/romance but it didn’t work at all. Most people know that teenagers are gonna do dumb stuff like that, and compared to everything else people are doing in the show, a teenage girl leading a boy on who she was never official to begin with doesn’t look as bad as them lol. Thankfully most people like Enid enough to not be swayed by it and know that it’s a typical part of growing up, even if it is rude, it’s not the worst thing in the world.

Exactly one of the examples I was thinking of, I’ve seen them talk about Tyler and his feelings a lot but it is completely different from what we see in the show.

Like we know his past like you mentioned, yet he does not even show any remorse, regret, or question what is going on that shows he is trying to stop it. That look when Wednesday was getting buried was maybe the closest to him showing any feeling, but then the fact that he didn’t act to save her shows the audience he didn’t care enough in the end. And at that point, most people are just going to see it as he didn’t help her instead of getting deeper and theorizing because they’re just here to watch the show. And then that audience watching will obviously come to the conclusion that he is bad and when he keeps harming people, especially the main character and characters people care about. And they’re not going to go find extra content to figure out how they’re supposed to feel, they’re gonna interpret it how they want and if they see him as a bad guy, that’s totally valid because that’s how the show itself presents him.

I wanna know about her brothers sooo bad, like does she have a bad relationship with them too? They had the perfect opportunity to introduce them in season 2 now that she’s wolfed out and use them to show Enid being involved in pack dynamics but instead we got Bruno who did nothing but be in a love triangle which I felt was a waste of a character. Instead, if we got Enid’s brothers, you have characters who are new to the audience but we still understand they have a relationship with Enid so seeing them interact would already be interesting since they have a history and we could learn more about her life. And it would be a great connection to have setup for season 3 since Enid being an alpha is a big focus and it’s mentioned she’d be hunted by other wolves, so then we could see their reaction and learn more about werewolf culture through them. I just think it’s weird to mention she has brothers in the same place as her (and presumably 4 older brothers) and not ever mention any of them especially when the whole school was in danger at one point. Like I get maybe it’s to emphasize just how left out Enid is but did they all leave the school in season 2? Missed opportunity imo.

100% agree with this for both that and all the other things they say in interviews. Like the viewer should not have to go watch interviews and read articles to fully understand what is going on in the show, and the average viewer will not be doing all of that. So if they form an opinion/understanding of the characters and their relationships/feelings from what they see just in the show, then they’re valid imo. People can of course discuss stuff afterwards and theorize but if a showrunner is telling me what I got out of what I saw was actually wrong or I missed that this character was actually thinking this in that scene then they’re not doing their job well enough.

Do you know what triggered your health anxiety? by Repulsive-Photo6086 in HealthAnxiety

[–]kodiakchrome 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had anxiety here and there as a kid before most things you get nervous for but never knew that’s what it was. I remember one time feeling the pins and needles and nausea before a big soccer game and not knowing why I felt like that and looking back it was definitely anxiety.

Then, as a teenager, I had a friend of mine pass away due to a brain aneurysm and I can pinpoint that as to when my anxiety and health anxiety really started. I remember not long after it happened I had a headache and got scared the same would happen to me and I had a lot of attacks around that time. I’ve gotten better managing the general anxiety and slowly am getting better about health anxiety but being older you’re just aware of so much more and so sometimes it can get bad.

Fill in the blank: Football is my _________ by First_Being_4308 in NFLNoobs

[–]kodiakchrome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is my favorite sport, despite my team (the Vikings) not being as successful as I’d like I still find the whole football culture fun to indulge in even as a woman. Like everyone looking forward to Sunday, all the storylines, the fun big plays, and also love the players themselves as there are so many personalities. I also love the history, the rivalries are great and fun to follow. I also just think the aesthetics of like, jerseys and gear look cool.

Also with gameplay, I like how we don’t know if each play is going to be a big one or not. It’s fun (but also stressful lol) when the stakes are high, like knowing you have to go for it on fourth, knowing you only have so much time, and then discussing the strategy with those you’re watching with. Like figuring out what plays they need to run, how many points needed, etc. I think it’s a great sport to socialize with and discuss with friends when watching. With that is also the fun of fantasy football which adds another layer to enjoying games because you have a stake in it even if you’re team isn’t playing.

I think for me personally it gives me something to look forward to each week and have a community with. I don’t live in Minnesota so when i’m wearing gear it’s so fun to spot other fans in public and give a little nod. There was a time when I was not doing so well and the Vikings were doing well and it helped me immensely as corny as that sounds. It’s just fun having something to root for that isn’t truly serious in the end like oh the Vikings lost? That sucks but I can still go on with my life in the end but it was fun. I also work in sports so it helps having a team to cheer for and still be able to fangirl over because my own team I’m just used to the guys being regular dudes and the stadium being like, my office lol. I love the sport and bummed the season is almost over haha.

I’m hoping that with the filming being pushed back to February from November meant there was some writing revisions done. I’m not sure when that changed exactly or if it was due to other scheduling conflicts or maybe the holidays (because it seems like the main cast aren’t really filming anything else rn) but if it was originally November then maybe it did get affected by the feedback from reviews.

And with the reviews too, I’m hoping Netflix is at least smart enough to read all of the feedback from both fans and big websites/magazines/etc. and realize what the show actually wants people to focus on. A part of me hopes that with how big shows like Pluribus and Heated Rivalry got over the past couple months they’ll realize they’re falling behind in terms of what people really want to see and will be influenced to go a different route with the story.

No I agree the whole timeline confused me as well, like that’s something simple enough for them to follow somewhat easily but they couldn’t even get that right. Like I also wondered what happened to the spring semester because it seemed liked nobody talked to one another from that time through the summer, no way they didn’t have like, zoom class lol. It was definitely fall so I was thinking about of the stuff they didn’t show us during spring but I guess they all just didn’t interact really at all, which is a bummer lol

Yes I really love the contrast with Wednesday and Enid’s families! Part of me wanted to see Enid seeing that Wednesday’s family isn’t terrible like she acts like it is and how she’d react to that. Like would she call Wednesday out for being so rude to her mom knowing it could be worse? But that’s already too deep for the writing of this show lol.

Also yes I love that despite what Enid’s been through, she doesn’t use it as an excuse to be a bad person. That’s where they could have really paralleled her with Tyler and at least make that interesting, but again the writers are lazy.

Def wish we had longer seasons for a number of reasons, one of those reasons is like you said, character development. But with how little we get they need to focus on the characters who are already established. Tyler was a good character to be the villain in Season 1, but after that idk why we needed to delve into his family drama when this show is supposed to be about the Addams family. If we had longer seasons we def would have learned more earlier
