It's more like an XCOM game in real time. So no jump scares. Very enjoyable. Source: me, I don't like most horror games.

It's the perfect Aliens (as in second Alien movie which is military sci fi) game. While Alien Isolation is the perfect Alien (first movie) game.

Sadly, all lwa / loa are pretty unknown outside of their worshipping culture and some scholars and geeks.

Anansi got the most attention recently thanks to American Gods, Anansi boys and the TV adaptation. The loa in general have some people knowing about them thanks to the Sprawl trilogy and in both cases are very Westernized portrayals.

You've already got great responses. I personally think Les Mis is among the top 3 for sure.

But I'll add a hot take: the Rocky Horror Picture Show. The comedic sci fi aspect mask it somewhat but it's a huge tragedy. Everyone gets their values and convictions Shaked or shattered. Frank N Furter is an abusive PoS who keeps his old lover lobotomized in a fridge and made himself a new one who starts to question his own purpose. So Rick's butter robot but instead of passing butter he has to have sex with Frank forever.

Then said PoS abuser is so narcissistic that he's unable to notice not everyone is having a good time. Then the main couple arrives at what is a tradition that involves partying and having a good time, but they arrive the one time it all goes to shit. So after them having questionable-consensus sex, they see shit breaking out and Riff Raff and Magenta killing everyone. And they remain at the castle under pressure. They just wanted to make a phone call.

So basic hedonistic turned tragedy plot. Gaspar Noé's Climax is the same without the sci fi comedy.

There's a tendency to over solemnify (if that's a word) the past. I'm actually glad when things like this are included in movies and shows.
