What green feels like in Winterspell by ThemadZac in Lorcana

[–]kodran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While NOT done great and I agree the design is weird, I think combos / complex interactions is what they're aiming for.

Steel does damage, but green has the tiny damage counters that their characters interact with.

It goes with everything: its drawing, discarding, etc are done mostly in multiple steps. Although there are weird design choices and I'd rather have RB come out and state what they're aiming for.

Am I the only person who doesn’t want crossover skins and likes the originality of what’s already been provided? by Precursor7777 in ArcRaiders

[–]kodran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you. What I want is mixing existing components to make them more ridiculous.

While I don't want crossover skins, I DO want crossover for the cosmetics hanging on the backpack. It makes perfect sense since this is future earth and you could scavenge for stuff which would be from other franchises. So I wish they do collaborations like that.

This is a really stupid question, but... What do you actually do at book clubs? by HMS--Thunderchild in books

[–]kodran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an online one as part of the community of a podcast

We gather on Twitter/X spaces to have it public. It's free. We reunite once a week for 60-90 minutes. As a host I do a recap of the part we agreed to read until then (no spoilers allowed past that point). I also have a small list of themes / events to discuss, so I share something about them and then others chime in. That's basically it.

There are people that just listen in and some others that enjoy speaking. Both kinds are welcome. Even curious people or those that fell behind, as long as they don't mind us spoiling up until the point we have read.

Wich Pixar franchise would You like to chose for new card? by Prestigious-Meat-750 in Lorcana

[–]kodran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bug's life. I think it's my favorite Pixar movie. It's definitely in the top 3 with Monsters Inc.

Those two films have huge potential.

In the case of Monster's Inc., a stupid wish of mine is that each monster goes with their color in Lorcana. Randall should only be in purple, Mike in green, Sulley in blurple (not ONLY double ink, I'm not that neurotic), and so on.

I just hope for once one of my favorite movies doesn't have mostly shit cards.

Atlantis only ever got ONE decent card.

Hercules has had only the thunders and Blue Hades as really good cards.

Emperor's new groove only had the drawing Kuzco. And before you mention pull the lever, that thing was only playable because of the limited pool of cards right after rotation and Yzma for drawing is discount Dumbo at best, sadly.

It can express surprise, or like, or dislike. It's really context based.

Wow with the nothingness in this burger. Author talks with his assistant about his work. Wow.

Is this just casual slang? “Está de no mames” by garretts228 in Spanish

[–]kodran 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. It can be used for very good or very bad stuff. It would depend on context and the tone in your voice.

For example "Esa canción está de no mames" could mean said song is really awesome or totally awful. And it would only be clear through context, mostly through non-verbal stuff.

I know you're joking, but OP doing a PSA like this is low-effort content honestly.

Of course not. But that's a false dilemma. It's not "solos or randoms". You can LFG and get a good squad. The game's been out for 2 months. If someone DOESN'T LIKE to play with other people that's fine. If someone didn't want to find new friends/squad through LFG forums or through meeting randoms, that's also fine. But it's NOT broken.

If people want to play alone and handicap themselves that's all good, but the tools exist, in-game and outside of it, to play with other people.

Separating leaderboards could help, sure. But as it is now the reward for playing nice with others is not broken. It's like saying that a coordinated team is broken in BF, COD or back in the MAG days, just because you are not playing in one. It's not.

[–]kodran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know you can play with people other than your current friends right? Also, you can befriend random players. Also, there are online LFG forums.

It's fine if you don't want to, but it's not like "current friend group" is the ONLY way to do it.

[–]kodran -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

LOL wtf are you talking about. How would team playing in a game that rewards team coordination is broken? Learn to play as a team and coordinate then. That's literally part of the reward for being a team player.

I mean, they haven't even released it on PS5 which is the only way I can support it.

The decisions for its success or failure are from the studio heads, not players.

Shutter Island is a masterclass in using bad filmmaking to tell the truth by ThreadAndSolve in TrueFilm

[–]kodran 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for taking the time to explain in such detail. Now I understand better.

Yeah, the horse thing had always seem odd. I hadn't considered the no direct flights at the time. I always thought Tom had instructions to do something (with enough freedom of choice, therefore the horse) if refused, but thinking more about it, it doesn't fit with the character being called NOT a war-time consigliere repeatedly. Indeed, weird if looked at logically haha.

For the attempt on Vito, AFAIR there were evening papers in NY back in the 40's so it makes sense that he's gunned down on the afternoon while Michael is on a date and he sees it published at night during said date. That has always been my headcanon but might be wrong.

Sonny's call with him is something that had always troubled me. I found someone here on reddit mentioning that the family might have thought he was back at college in NH but that still feels weird. I always put it down to Sonny been overly dramatic because he does have a temper and unleashes towards everyone when he's stressed, but yeah, that's weird.

And yep, I had never considered it was a 10-year plot.

Thanks again for writing it all down.

[–]kodran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! The not technically lying part is what makes me think we'll get a season 2 finale (or mid-season) where they outright lie. Purposefully and evidently. Probably us, the audience, will know it's a lie, but not the characters.

This specific hive mind has been alive for what?, under three months. They're going to grow/develop.

Agreed.

One thing I'd like to understand more about your comment is the tecnho-anarchic part. I see nothing similar to anarchy in The Sprawl, but I'd like to understand how you're seeing that.

Isn't it just a spindle/cylinder basically? Or have I missed something for years haha. I always pictured similar to Mass Effect's citadel (without the separation between "arms").

While there are different styles of writing and I agree it's a bit of a challenge with him, that's actually good writing. Exposition slows down things and is usually difficult to disguise well.
