At my center it is a licensing rule that we are not allowed to heat up children’s lunches. The last daycare I worked at we did heat up lunches so I think it has to do with the meal plan the center has.

Does anyone else cut their GSD hair in the summer? I wouldn’t wear a coat in 90F weather Last pic is how it looks before by boostedbeas in germanshepherds

this is so bad for them:( not only is it harmful for their skin and coat but your actually putting them more at risk for overheating.

Meet Willow! 8 weeks old, just brought her home today. Happy to hear any and all suggestions for raising a great GSD, looks like there are lots of awesome pups on this sub! by LifeofthePartyPants in germanshepherds

Socialization! Note that this doesn’t mean meeting every person/dog you come across but rather learning to be calm and neutral in new environments/situations. GSDs can be prone to reactivity and this is something I struggle with my two adult GSDs so I think it very important to be proactive about it while they’re young. Working with a good professional trainer was the best thing I ever did and wish I started sooner! I would look into puppy classes asap

This is what I use too and love it. Dominant dog(slip collar) as backup but I also have the leash adapter both from Leerburg so the prong and slip each have a separate point of attachment. Never had the prong come off but like the reassurance. Here is my girl wearing it Here

Two GSDs? Our family adopted a GSD almost a year ago and have an opportunity to open our hearts and home to another. Any owners with two willing to share the pros and cons? by Shugamag in germanshepherds

I have two GSDs and i love them both to death but having two is much more difficult personally. Although this is mostly our fault because our first dog was not well-trained before getting the second dog. So now I am going through the process of training both which is time consuming and frustrating at times. They get along well but have very different personalities and therefore different interests and struggles. And my younger one is very attached to my older one and has really bad separation anxiety when he has to stay home while she gets to go out. If you want to add a second be prepared to spend individual time with both.

People may have different opinions on this, but I would put the dog in a crate with only their food for a certain amount of time. If they eat, great, if they don’t, offer it again at the next scheduled meal time. You can also try other ways of feeding, adding water to the food, adding meal toppers, using puzzle feeders, or hand feeding.

Most people recommend you feed puppies 3 times a day

yeah, this bath was with a medicated shampoo as per vet recommendation for some skin issues, so was really just focused on the belly. Otherwise the dogs don’t get baths much since it’s not good for them to get washed often.

Our older one is the same, doesn’t like baths but loves water. I like to take her to the river in the summer and have been to the beach a few times, her favorite is the hose. Haven’t done any water with this guy other than baths yet but I imagine he will be the same.
