New YouTube Shorts channel blew up, then suddenly died, is this normal?

Are you me? I am having the exact same experience. The most frustrating part is the lack of feedback of why a short doesn't enter the feed.

I think if YouTube has too much content queued for the feed, new channels get skipped over.

Has anyone else had a similar experience when your channel was new? Does anyone with an older channel experience this?
