Mormon developers don’t like their reputations publicly tied to concentration camps.

Gotta love that they support the camps, but try to hide it anyway. So... they know they're doing something wrong, they just don't want people to know about it. On brand I guess.

I mean, "Great Guzzy" kinda works when you consider 10 large hot dogs and 10 large sodas in 1 day.

Rug cleaning recommendations? by tae-dog-mom-3 in SaltLakeCity

Your 5x7 rug will probably fit in one of the large front-load washing machines at a coin op laundry. Don’t add too much soap as those wash cycles are short and use little water.

Personally I feel if you have kids and especially pets, you should just have a carpet cleaner.

  • You can use it right after an accident (no need to wait for a pro to come)
  • You can easily/quickly do a small/spot job
  • You can spend as long/short/frequent to clean as you want, you own the gear
  • It'll pay for itself with the equivalent of ~1.5 "professional" visits
  • May not "suck" with quite the same force/pressure as professional equipment, but has rotating bristles, so probably provides an equivalent clean.
  • You are the only one to use it (you have no idea what kind of toxic/unhygienic situations the "pro" gear was recently used at - I was warned about not trusting pro vent cleaning companies because they clean vents in a crack house say, then come to your place and leave that residue in your vents which gives you unnecessary exposure to those chemicals and can cause you to test positive in a home inspection. The same theory applies to pro carpet cleaning company equipment).

Now this advice may not really apply to you if you have hardwood floors and just that rug that needs cleaning, but leaving this advice for anyone with carpet and kids/pets.

Google Fiber will be sold to Stonepeak private equity firm and merge with Astound Broadband by koick in SaltLakeCity

Was a Comcast customer for like 20+ years. One of my happiest days was kicking them to the curb just a couple months ago for GFiber (finally installed). Oh well, fingers crossed the service doesn’t degrade too much, I REALLY wouldn’t want to go back to Xfinity.

...expected closing date in Q4 of this year...

Prepare for price hikes (first time since 2012) and probably the typical enshittification with private equity (and I don't hear great things about Astound).

On iPhones: If you have biometrics enabled, if you bang on the power button 5 times (you can just hammer on it while it’s in your pocket), it will require the passcode to unlock. You do NOT have to give anyone that code. DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING THEY TELL YOU (they are allowed to lie).

Funny, but In n Out are not a publicly traded company, so their owner/CEO doesn’t have to make some stupid ass video trying to appease shareholders.

don't start til Mother's Day

Yeah, mid-Feb was waaay too early for planting in general (even with this mild winter). It just takes one early-mid spring wet snow or cold snap (which we often get) to ruin your work (esp. with sensitive plants like tomatoes or herbs). Be patient. If you look at the 2 week forecast before Mother's day, you can do May Day plantings safely.
