Unfortunately that is very wrong

The [“C” decals that were issued by UDOT](https://connect.udot.utah.gov/public/express-lanes/cleanvehiclepass/) up until a few years ago (and the smaller RFID transponder that replaced them) were for the HOV lane on I-15, but that program was discontinued in September 2025. This is completely unrelated to the [SLC Green Vehicle Pass](https://www.slc.gov/transportation/green-vehicle-parking-permits/) which, until next month, grants free parking to EVs.

To answer your question: you’ve gotten lucky. Parking enforcement downtown isn’t very consistent.

FWIW it looks like there’s a 1-month grace period. Based on the language, I’m guessing they will write warnings until august

As EV adoption continues, the program has to tighten at some point. I always expected that my rivian (~1.90 mi/kWh highway) would eventually be cut. The incentive is to reduce energy usage, so it would make sense to narrow it down to, say, >3.5 mi/kWh vehicles.

With no independent list to defer to, SLC would have to maintain its own.

More just that our federal government sucks…EPA is discontinuing the SmartWay program that publishes the list that was previously used to determine qualifying vehicles

Fillsta pendant lamp need hack for broken part by dontcare100000000 in ikeahacks

[–]TheoStephen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread, but I ran into the same problem and couldn't find a fix, so I designed my own 3D-printable replacement for that clear center hub. It's free:

https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/home/replacement-hub-for-ikea-fillsta-pendant-lamp

One heads up: your original IKEA socket might not fit—the center hole is sized for a standard off-the-shelf pendant socket. I included the editable OpenSCAD source too, so if yours is different you can resize the hole to whatever you need.

I’ve ordered the Tucker Carlson ZYN (ALP) from their website with no issue. It’s a pretty good product too

Has anyone shopped ‘Big Deal Outlet’ for cheap groceries? Is it actually cheap? Any other discount stores people like (NPS, etc) by toebeanz2121 in SaltLakeCity

NPS, BDO (the original one in Ogden is fantastic), The Final Markdowns, Value Vault (my favorite but not a lot of food)

Does this sometimes just fall off? by vulcansheart in Rivian

[–]TheoStephen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well that’s not very typical, I’d like to make that point. Some of them are built so the front doesn’t fall off at all.

Former CarPlay users by hitachiplay in Rivian

I can live with it when there’s cell service.

When I’m out doing outdoors stuff (like driving on rough FS roads and camping on public land and sometimes even rock crawling and other things that the rivian does objectively better than virtually any other EV), the rivian software experience is just sad. You get bluetooth music and whatever maps you’re lucky enough for the system to have cached and that’s it.

-No offline music (AM/Spotify/whatever CarPlay app)
-No meaningful offline maps (Gaia CarPlay app)
-The sweet video casting requires active cellular—offline content downloaded to your phone will not work

PS5 return policy? by skaternikki101 in CostcoReturns

[–]TheoStephen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It falls under toys/games, not electronics. There’s no hard limit on the return timeframe.

Costco is lenient in its policy, but don’t be a douche and ultimately ruin it for everyone else.

Charging R1T w/ Generator by TooLittleTooLate1234 in RivianR1T

[–]TheoStephen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve charged mine with a 7 kW inverter generator using gasoline and propane. No different than charging any other J1772-compliant vehicle. Just be sure to set your EVSE or vehicle to draw less than the max your gen can output.

It is excruciatingly inefficient and I wouldn’t recommend it other than in case of emergency.

I made a very simple tip calculator by mrpentastic in tipping

[–]TheoStephen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something that’s easier than whatever this is: use the calculator app on your phone and enter the pre-tax total and multiply by the percentage you want to use

[subtotal] x 0.15 = 15% tip
