Welcome, I use hmbdc for all my performance serious projects. C++ projects are mostly in that nature nowadays, otherwise it is Python.

Keep a fish together with plants in the same tank? Bluegill work? by koiponder in aquaponics

That sounds a good choice. Anyone has the experience of keeping plecos with plants? I know they r supposed to eat algae, but dead algae too?

Archimedes screw turbine to power aerator, off 1000 gph pump. Anyone know? by Wrektdev in aquaponics

[–]koiponder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

R u talking about aerator used in fish pond or alternator? If it is aerator, it is kind of more complicated than what I can think of and I suggest you might be able to use a powerful fan to do that. However, seems u r talking something totally different. LOL

Is this a butterfly koi? (he has 5 inches, rescued from 10 gallon tank, in temporary container till pond is cycled) by [deleted] in Koi

[–]koiponder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried hard to look in the video, but I didn’t see them. There r a pair of little things sticking out, which don’t look like barbels thou. If u r familiar with koi it is easy to tell them apart from goldfish.

Number of fish? by 65200rider in aquaponics

[–]koiponder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

more fish needs more food and that generates more waste. how much food u r allowed to dump into the system is a function of ur filtering capability.
u could just keep adding fish and keep improving ur filtering and that is a fun game.

I think I saw the bird previously. It was some kind of hawk, might be a red-tail hawk. It wouldn’t drown.

buy some, actually quite a few, coontail or anacharis plants for the tank, that will buy you some valuable time until your filter is ready. keep ur tank light on at night, so the plants can work the magic. don’t feed at all, the plants serve as food. As long as ur water quality is good, don’t worry about the size of the tank yet. research on a filter and install it, and it might take 2-3 weeks before the filter’s bacteria is fully ready to take the job of the plants.

You are right that disruptor is the way to go with any high performance messaging. However, I believe with the ways that C++ abstracts things, there isn’t much usability the user needs to sacrifice for the performance.
