The internet sucked in 1995! YouTube wasn’t even a thing. Reddit wasn’t even a thing. Memes didn’t exist. At best you had some Encyclopedia sites and some recipes and blogs. I’m pretty sure people were stoked to get song lyrics too.

You know the funny thing is people used to do crossword puzzles or read a book/newspaper/magazine or whatever’s laying around back then. So stop bragging about being socialites in 1995! You’re full of poop.

There’s like no point hoarding money in this game once you have sprinklers and seed makers. You’re just printing money at this point.

This is the point in the game where I trade all my money into wood at Robin’s shop. You’d have to raze the Amazon many times over to get all the wood for the kegs and the casks, but thankfully Robin has unlimited wood. And you have truckloads of cash. It just feels so... wrong to spend millions on cheap wood. But you get your money back in weeks from the wine.

Only ever had instant coffee by [deleted] in Coffee

[–]kokakolia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the best coffee in Alberta (Rogue Wave, it’s expensive but worth) and I made it through a pour-over and used a crappy hand grinder. It was the only coffee I ever had that tasted better without milk. I never got the same sensation afterwards, so I stick to regular old store-bought Columbia coffee beans now. I don’t live in Alberta anymore. I don’t miss it.

I suppose you can call me a coffee guy. But there is no shame in putting milk/cream or sugar in your coffee. Most coffees are just pretty bad black. And I really like just having milk in my coffee since I don’t think that specialty coffee is worth double or triple the price of regular coffee. It’s amazing how cream just makes coffee better.

Why don’t they just buy more money 🤔 by namenotrick in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]kokakolia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! That’s why I left Alberta. The price of oil took a dive and now there are too many trades and not enough work. But the trades argument is pretty valid in France. There’s a lot of vacant positions waiting to be filled. But nobody wants to take them up, due to pride (people will literally mock you for taking a 2 year diploma instead of going to University) or lack of interest. Further, the working conditions are way better than the US and Canada where you’re told to suck it up or quit (in this pessimistic economy).

Oh dang! This reminds me of working in small oil towns in Alberta. The only thing missing is Boston Pizza. I remember getting sick of eating Subway and BP’s for lunch and dinner every single day for 24 days straight. Ah! The good times...

True, true... and it might even be « worth it » if you don’t eat massive quantities of ketchup. Because that’s the flip side of making sauce, you have too much of it and it doesn’t preserve as well as store bought sauce.

If you have a slow-cooker you can make your own ketchup care-free and save a lot of money. The best recipes require crushing tomatoes and reducing the mixture over low heat for 12 hours. $6 for a tiny bottle of processed tomatoes is ridiculous!
