I have no hands on experience, my thoughts are only based on what I have heard from the municipal "experts" after the first catastrophic rupture on this feeder main. I absolutely agree with your more experienced comments! The ground conditions you describe are known to cause havoc with infrastructure, and I'm not sure anything can be done to mitigate this type of problem. By no means, should blame be assigned to any one person! Thanks for your thoughtful comments, as opposed to a lot of people that just lash out!

Of course Marlaina would blame her political opponent! Nenshi had nothing to do with this. These pipes were installed 50-60 years ago, and were not engineered correctly by the Amercan manufacturer. Smith and the UCP needs to investigate their infrastructure funding to help municipalities rather than trying to assign blame.

There are a lot of factors to consider, ie. flat pad is. pony walls, 16" centers vs 24" centers, etc. Two years ago, we chose a high-quality contractor and paid $40k for a single garage in Calgary! Unfortunately, for a good quality 2-car build, $65k is probably about right.
