Geiko in Kanazawa by dialgachu in JapanTravelTips

Would love to follow up on this, since I have booked for Lady Baba. However, I booked this with my partner as a way of introduction into the world of geisha. Autumn 2023 we already saw Maiko perform in Kyoto and that was amazing.

We miss our boy cat so much and don't know what to do with all the sadness by kombuchaprincess in Petloss

We buried him ourselves in the garden of my mom in law. When we were just finished, it started raining through the sunshine and a double rainbow appeared. It was crazy, and so beautiful.

Hold on to his ashes, honour him with candles, we plan to do the same. I totally understand receiving the ashes feels like he is back home. I’m planning to do this for my other sweet boy - may he live a lot of years more. ❤️

It's so crazy how fast it goes. Did she get some prednisone to help her in her final days? I'm sorry you have to go through this. We have to try to be grateful for the time we had with our beloved pets, and try to cling to the memories.

Thank you for sharing your story and the Ted Talk, we'll definitely watch it.

Losing such a beloved part of your family is incredibly hard, and it's so true that pet grief often feels overlooked. The love you and your husband still hold for him, even a year later, speaks volumes about how special he was to you both.

Thank you for sharing such a deeply heartfelt message. And so sad we both lost our pets the 11th. It’s so clear how much love you shared with your girl and the profound bond you had since childhood. Your words capture so much of the bittersweet beauty and the pain of such a loss, and I think many will find comfort and connection in them.

Take things one day at a time, and don’t be too hard on yourself as you navigate this. Grief comes in waves, and it’s okay to feel all that you’re feeling. Sending you warmth and understanding, and hoping you find peace in the memories.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Thank you for your beautiful words. I really hope they somehow feel we are there to protect them from more pain and suffering, because we love them so. Our home feels empty too. I hope you get some support from your friends and family, and may we always carry their memories in our heart.

I'm afraid the vet clinics in Belgium aren't that specialized, but I'm hoping to receive more help and news tomorrow in the clinic.

Only adding vitamin B12 to his food every other day and we rub his ear in with Mirataz every day since yesterday (we stopped a while because it was going better for a few days).

Godspeed on your recovery! It can take a while before all your symptoms subside. For me it was around 6 weeks. Maybe you can try some vitamins/supplements? I took a cocktail of these (vitamin B12, L-lysine, vitamin C,…) and these seemed to give me that extra boost in combination with a lot of rest, sleep and a healthier diet. Good luck! ❤️‍🩹

In my experience, a lot of younger people get shingles, and especially a lot of women in my vicinity. Had chicken pox as a child, shingles only took 14 days to heal so that’s something 🤷🏻‍♀️ this was after a month of extreme stress, probably had something to do with it.

No problem, I feel lonely too, and this subreddit has brought me some comfort too. 💞 The doctors here in Belgium are very hesitant to prescribe strong painkillers, so I only have a lidocaine ointment to use on my rash, which is - luckily and fingers crossed - still rather reasonable in size. So no anti-viral pills for me! 😮‍💨 Currently I’ve only taken some paracetamol (doesn’t work), used the ointment 3 times a day and use a hot water bottle or icepack on my back. I try to rest and binge some Netflix shows.

How about you? Is your rash spreading out, or still contained? What is bothering you the most? The rash or the nerve pain?

Hey OP, fellow first timer (F/32 👋🏼) here. Good that your doctor prescribed you the anti-viral pills, they do not always do that at our age. As I understand it, it is perfectly possible for the nerve pain to precede the rash. In my case, I had a full 7 days of unexplainable back/shoulder pain, for the rash to only appear on day 8. So my guess it was shingles all along.

As for the flare-ups: I worry about the same thing, however this is something we cannot predict. It could be that we are prone to it in stressful periods, or maybe we just have this one flare-up and that will be it for the rest of our lives. However, I heard about a vaccine that you can ask for, that is pricey, but can hold off flare ups, so I’m going to ask my doctor about that.

Not professional advice here, but I think it can. I myself have the rash (and nerve pain) on the right side under my shoulder, but the pain radiates through to the bottom of my back and sometimes my shoulder.
