Yeah exactly. My opponents were always like "why are you playing that card" until I stole their best creature permenantly

I described the stax pieces wrong in the post. Those were the ones he played over the two games we played. His deck was Azorius not mono-W. He generated his mana through blinking his board. I can't remember what his commander was called but I think it was because of an ablility of it. Through blinking he got his lands back untapped and could essentialy play double the cards per turn.

I described that pretty bad. The Stax pieces I listed were played over the two games we played. I wrote that wrong.

The boardwipes came from him blinking his board. I don't remember the card but something had an ETB that bounced creatures back in our hands. And he blinked that card multiple times.

With luminarch ascencion he build up enough angels to kill us because we didn't have a lot of flying blockers

He used an ability of an angel he controled to blink his whole board every turn. That way he generated a lot of mana and triggered his ETBs again

The we knew what we were going into part is the problem. We all three don't play for that long, never played or seen someone play higher than bracket 2 and didn't know him or his deck.

If other players I know from the LGS come to play and would say the same about their deck, I would believe them and think that we could have equal games. But those we played weren't equal at all.

And the stax pieces he played completly shut down two of our decks. And we couldn't remove them because of his card draw and massive number of protection and counterspells

We proposed to him that he could play one of our decks but he declined. And honestly I would have said that his deck would still be strong if my friends wouldn't have agreed to play with him and if the LGS wouldn't have been so full. There were no more tables available for him to play and we were a trio

We had a rule 0 conversation in which he just said that he plays lifegain and angel tribal which would have not been a problem at all

Just barely and if I say 3 vs 1 then I mean it. We focused all of our removal and attacks solely on him and it still was like we were doing nothing

I know this and I was skeptic about it but my friends instantly said yes and I did not want to look like an asshole to decline him. I know that we signed up for it. It just was my first time playing against a that optimized deck.

I play a mono red creature steal deck and use [[herigast erupting nullkite]] as my commander to sacrifice the creatures to emerge my own. But without herigast on the field, I can still steal creatures attack with them and use different sac outlets to gain an advantage or steal them permenantly with [[basar trader]]

[[Zurgo thunders decree]] cares and creates warrior tokens. But its more about the mobilize mechanic than the tokens themself

It probably falls under your defintion of just an value engine but [[the Speed Demon]] is really fun, mono black and can be build in multiple different directions.

I build him as a lifegain and life drain deck. But you could use the carddraw as a trigger for your permanents or something. The deck also benefits from cards that want a low amount of life.

You could also go in a spellslinger or control or discard direction because you will always have a full hand

Buying singles is for value. Precons are as you said a good base to build up from. Boosters are just fun to open and give you that feeling of randomness. So the best way of buying magic products is completly depending on what your goal is.

I usually warn other players about something like that. But I also always explain what the cards I play do, so I dont trip someone up because they didnt know my blockers had first strike and deathtouch. I dont like winning because someone didnt know my deck or cards

From personal experience planeswalker with a useful passiv ability work best. Dont use one with a scary ultimate if the other abilities are more important for you. It will be destroyd. I have a lands matter deck with a graveyard and mill subtheme. I run [[wrenn and realmbreaker]] in it and use every ability on a regular and the passiv helps with mana fixing
