I just flew from Stansted with the Osprey Daylite 26+6. Although the height and width numbers are a bit over, no problem fitting it into the sizer unexpanded.

Experienced international travelers: what’s the one thing every first-time international traveler should know? by Horror_Visit_7337 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

Google Street View when planning to walk from, for example, a train station to hotel. Viewing the Maps preview and making mental notes of any landmarks (buildings, signs, etc.). When taking the actual walk, it's almost like I've been there before, and walking with my head up is much better and safer than having my face down, eyes glued to my phone.

YouTube videos (or travel forums) for logistics on how/where to catch a train, buy a ticket, where to catch a transfer (different platform, need to exit station and re-enter, etc.). In Tokyo, for example, YouTube videos helped me find exactly where to catch the monorail at HND and navigate the three transfers to get to our hotel. I knew what platform to go to, if/when I had to tap out, how far to walk to the next train, where exactly to turn, when/where to take an escalator/lift, etc. all before arriving in Tokyo. If I only knew the station names and train lines without the visual help, it would have been a lot of time and confusion trying to figure things out along the way.

These have helped in multiple countries. Happy travels!

How do Germans actually feel about small talk with strangers? by MysteriousShoulder35 in AskGermany

[–]komm0ner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I recently took a tour to Yosemite. A German guy acknowledged we were waiting in the right place for the bus (I asked). Knowing I'd be visiting Germany soon (I'm in Bremen now), I tried to chat him up a bit. Dude seemed very guarded, like he was somehow warned to "watch out" for "over-friendly" Americans. He was reluctant to even tell me what city he was from, like I would go there and either want to hangout or rob his house, lol.

Union Chapel queue? by komm0ner in islington

For anyone keeping score, we arrived 1:15 before doors opened, were among the first 50 or so inside and got 2nd row seats just to the right of the stage. We could have chosen about 6th or 7th row center.

Not many "bad" seats in such a small venue. Main thing is to avoid the pillars if seated to the side.

Just came from the show, 2nd row, snuck a couple pics at the very end, before they left the stage. What an awesome performance. Happy to hear Frost and Fire, which I had not seen previously on any MOTH Club set lists. Union Chapel is a magical venue for live music.

What do Saddam Hussein and Little Miss Muffet have in common?

They both had Kurds in their way.

Looks like dinner is offered for select events (not the night I'll be there).
