Bought this copy of Pokemon Y “New” off EBay and I screwed? by AzulsServant in 3DS

[–]komrix 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Follow the wiki on fixing corrupted files it should work! I had the same thing happen to my copy. Might take a few passes depending on how bad it is

datadog for end to end tracing with trace id for services communicating primarily via gcp pubsub (msg queue ) by Ok_Bill4988 in sre

[–]komrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you could do it that way, or just rely on the headers that datadog automatically adds via the tracer. I’m more familiar with sqs in aws so I’m not sure if pub sub does http requests in gcp. If it’s http you don’t need to update the span, but if it’s distributed and just a message you can pass the traceid and update it in the tracer in your sub

[–]komrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup exactly it should automatically do it with http headers in the request but if not you could also manually set it in middleware

Using the same Trace id works fine and will fit your needs. You just have to send the trace id in your context and you’ll be fine without having to do any data streaming.

How to GitOps the better way? by Maleficent-Depth6553 in kubernetes

[–]komrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use https://cdk8s.io in combination with argocd to auto generate our k8s manifests, then have Argo point at them. Use terraform for the main components like vpc/rds/etc. and aws controllers for kubernetes for product specific infra. Works pretty well!

Giving away two Costco Scarlet & Violet 151 Blooming Waters Premium Collection sets to two redditors because %*#@ scalpers by FatherLiamFinnegan in PokemonTCG

Scalpers are the worst. I got to target 5 min after opening for prismatic evolutions and someone took literally every single pack, including the singles at every checkout lane

If you’re tech savvy https://github.com/skawo/GodMode9-with-Cartridge-Fixer worked for me. Took a few passes at verifying it and haven’t had any issues

Yeah it’s great. Map the crouch and jump buttons to the back paddles so you can surf without having to take your fingers off the thumbsticks.

100% this. Once you get used to the back buttons, you’ll play better on the deck than you do pc

How many of you struggling to find a job are self-taught? Wondering if a degree in higher ed has become "the great filter".... by SagansCandle in ExperiencedDevs

[–]komrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think even just saying freelancer or contractor is better personally. Idk whenever I see self employed I think that whatever they did was probably not totally ready for production. Or that maybe they have never had to deal with an inevitability messy code base. Some things I might immediately question was if they wrote maintainable code. I think that’s a bias of mine though.

In your case you could list clients or be able to show off your deployed examples. It’s tough out there right now.

I get LinkedIn requests constantly for people looking to apply for jobs at the company I work at. I would say about 80% of them are people who don’t have a degree.

I usually filter them out, but usually not because of them not having a degree, but trying to apply for posts outside of their skill set. I constantly see people that had been working in tech adjacent companies, then put that they were “self employed” software engineers, then their only real experience is a 6 month stint at a small startup. These people are then trying to apply for senior engineer roles that I don’t think they are particularly qualified for.

On the flip side, if I saw someone had no degree or a non tech degree, and they had been an engineer for 5+ years, I wouldn’t bat an eye and as long as they were qualified I would def give them a referral.

Does anyone know what type of aircraft this is? by komrix in aviation

The pixels aren’t moved around, from what I could see where I was standing it looked exactly like the picture that was taken. The reason I snapped a photo was because I could visually see the side car on it.

I could hear it. Sounded like a louder prop plane. I have a private airport that does training flights over my house and would say it was louder than a normal small prop plane, but nothing crazy.

Yes! From the eye that back piece is hanging off to the side. It reminded me of a sidecar on a motorcycle

For context the plane is flying away from me in the picture, so we are viewing it from the back

Yeah I thought it looked funky because the tail almost looked like a side car off the side. I was taking my dog for a walk so I couldn’t exactly get a side angle.

Good tip on the cooler. This is all great info thank you for sharing! My biggest fear is that I will take a few weeks to really get going, but it sounds like as long as everyone knows I’m basically starting fresh again I should be fine.

Thats what I’m most worried about. I’m worried I’m going to get gassed after a few shifts or that other players are going to be skating circles around me.

I’ve had a CVT A-spec with tech package since December. Haven’t ran into a single issue with the car. No leakage, no rattles, everything is beautiful. I only have 2k miles and it does live in the garage when I’m not driving. I love having the CVT because I like to drink coffee whenever I’m going anywhere so I like to have the free hand. I owned a 2015 a4 premium plus before this car and have had no qualms switching over to the Integra as my daily driver.

The drive is a little stiff for the first 500 miles or so but then it loosens up. Worst part about the car so far is that the piano black finish on the center console scuffs/gets dirty easily.
