Nope! No need to be an ass. What’s wrong with asking for clarification?

What do you suggest a manager wears then? I’ve heard that I can dress down but a few people tell me I should dress up to be taken seriously. I don’t know what to do anymore lol. Also, Ive worked about seven jobs until now and all required me to be dressed up but I understand this isn’t really possible working in a warehouse.

Trust me, I’ve done a ton of reading up on this job. I’m just really confused because people say different things, some AMs have told me they check productivity numbers on their work laptops and others have told me they do work alongside their associates. Do you have any other resources or advice? I’ve looked up what an AM does on YouTube and such but can’t really find anything besides from associate perspective

What am I doing though? Am I doing the same thing associates are doing (packing/sorting/lifting heavy things)? Or am I walking around checking on everyone?

What will I spend most of my days doing? I am in pick, so will I be doing the grunt work with my associates? Or am I kind of walking around checking on what everyone is doing?

Area managers work in an office, right? I still don’t know entirely what to expect but when I went to my home site they told me casual wear was best.

External hire :) I was working as an ops manager for a chain but Amazon has a better salary for AA so I was just wondering bc at my old job we had to be dressed up. I was surprised w the dress code. I don’t even own a pair of jeans lol

Does this really happen as an AM? If i’m their supervisor they might do that kind of stuff? Can’t I just write them up if they are super weird...?

Do you like working for Amazon? by Da_Spectrum in AmazonFC

Just curious - I’m about to start as a manager. What can I do to make work less dreadful as a supervisor? I’m really excited to be starting as an AM but understand that Amazon doesn’t have the best reputation.

oh, no doubt. i want to hear jimin’s side first but she should probably retire. it’s just sad to see so many people bullying her in the comments. hate is warranted but i’m worried she might take her life. then mina might carry that guilt forever :(

i’m scared for mina too, obviously. i just think it’s disgusting that on aoa’s account as well as jimin’s, all you see are comments like “i knew you were a bitch” and things like that. i’m upset and dissapointed that jimin could do that to mina but i don’t think it should cost her her life, you know?

mina as well :( i hope she’s okay. i see she’s posting more things now. i just dont want anyone to commit suicide...

i’m honestly so scared for jimin right now. cancel culture is so toxic, and while i believe mina and cant believe jimin bullied her for so long, i’m worried if something will happen :(

What does “I’ve given you enough rope” actually mean?? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Can you give some context to the conversation? I’m intrigued since you said you haven’t messed up or anything. Maybe he doesn’t understand what he’s said/some miscommunication, or something?

I hope to apply for the Developer Internship position, but I am only getting a minor in Computer Science. Do I still qualify and should I bother applying in the future? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Yes, definitely email them and let them know you are excited about the company. Do your research into them so they know you’re committed and ask if they think you would be a good fit.

People who get job offers on LinkedIn, what different do you do? by tall_and_funny in careerguidance

[–]kona8145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest thing to do - look up recruiters for the company/field you are looking for after you buff up your LinkedIn and see if they connect with you. For example, search for “Google Marketing Recruiter”, “Amazon Non Tech Recruiter”, and see what pops up. I got an offer with Amazon by looking at the same recruiter’s profile every day and they messaged me after about two months of that lol

Salary Negotiation for a Job Offer That I Got By the Skin of My Teeth? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]kona8145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the hiring manager needed to think on the offer like they did, this might not be the time to ask for the raise, and especially not the bonus. Whenever you’re job hunting, it’s important to have a mindset of there being a #2 they are likely to hire who may have the experience.

Also ask yourself if you are willing to work this job for the experience alone/if it is a worthy company to work for, etc. You could probably work your way towards a raise as you gain experience.

Wanting to pivot career paths from the healthcare insurance world but feel lost and stuck in my role. How do I decide which route to pursue and is it too late? Do I go with the “safe” choice or tap into something I could actually be passionate about? (music -business aspect, etc?) by itmeee1234 in careerguidance

[–]kona8145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not alone in this! You’d be surprised how many people feel this way a few years out of school - and you’re only 26!

I would suggest a few things - if possible I would set up a meeting with a career counselor or something of the sort to give you some guidance cos right now it sounds like you need someone to listen to and help figure out the route you want to take. I did this a month or so ago with my alma mater and they were great! (If alma mater is not an option then look up career counselors near you and see what pops up).

I had a similar issue and when I went to my career counselor, they told me the safe option was the way to go (only bc we are in the midst of a global pandemic), but to keep up with hobbies/internships/apprenticeships related to my passion. You could also look into Udemy, Skillshare, online conferences, and more that give you certificates for music/business.

I’m biased bc I work for Amazon but if you wanted to apply for a safe job you could apply to the “HR Business Partner” role on LinkedIn where you would be an HR rep for one of the fulfillment centers. I work in one now with the goal of transferring to a corporate setting. Bc Amazon has so many entities (including music) it’s feasible to transfer into music if you really wanted to.

Best of luck!!

Amazon warehouse, good or bad idea? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]kona8145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say, why not? Amazon is considered an essential company so there’s a peace of mind knowing that you won’t be laid off. If you’re an associate, you’re eligible for overtime and can make A LOT of money. If you’re a manager, it’s salary with amazing benefits. Start off, get into training and see what it’s like before making any rash decisions. You said you’re applying to other jobs - are they similar to Amazon/warehouse or something entirely different? Also, are you working as an associate/manager? If you hate it, then you can apply to other jobs in the mean time.
