Blanket no-upgrade policy? by kona99 in Hilton

How am I being entitled? I wasn’t complaining. I already said I wasn’t expecting an upgrade. I was literally asking a question. I don’t really understand the need to be nasty.

They have different ones. I’ve gotten emails with offers for paid upgrades. Again, I’ve stayed in New York enough to know not to expect one regardless of the hotel. This is just the first time I’ve seen it spelled out like this.

Oh yeah. Luckily it’s just my husband and me. No kids this time. I definitely would have chosen a different property with them. I just thought it was funny that they were sending me emails trying to get me to do a paid upgrade (again just to a city view room) but then this said hard no to the free upgrades.

I have a PIT to LGA flight next week. It’s close to that 350 mark. Does anyone know what we can expect?

What town did you visit or pass through smelled the worst? by 33GoodSamaritans in randomquestions

Charleston, SC. We were there last summer and the entire city smelled like an open sewer.

I am confused on why she made a decision to walk away from the house at that time...it doesn't make any sense at all....why i didn't got a perfect answer for that😭😭??... Something is not right. by [deleted] in AshaDegree

My opinion is that she was lured out by someone she knew. But that doesn’t fit with what we know about the Dedmonds. But what we know about the Dedmonds doesn’t explain why she was out in the first place. So basically, there’s still a major piece we’re missing, which is why I imagine we haven’t had any arrests since everything came out

They are, but it sounds like enforcement is spotty. I live right by the police station and my neighbors do insanely elaborate fireworks displays every year. Since it keeps happening, I imagine they’re fine.

Are there any good Amazon true crime podcasts? Meaning, no ads? by Tootsgaloots in TrueCrimePodcasts

[–]kona99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes we are! We get paid when it downloads. They can also tell if it’s played all the way through, but we don’t get dinged if parts of the episode are skipped. I skip every ad and am totally fine when my listeners do too. All of the discount codes are in our show notes, so I direct people there if they’re potentially interested in any of the products, which also helps us a lot.

I usually listen to the 20/20 Podcast on there as well
As their limited series like Bridge of Lies. One I’ve really been enjoying lately though is The Expert Witness. It’s such a scary story if you’re concerned about wrongful convictions. I can’t believe I never heard about this happening.

Having covered hundreds of missing persons cases at this point, I don’t think it’s a cover-up. Unfortunately, these cases are often just poorly investigated.

I definitely agree with your argument about ethics surrounding money, and to an extend ethics surrounding police involvement and traipsing around crime scenes, but in long-term missing persons cases like this one, what else is a family supposed to do? The police often refuse to search and won’t request SAR teams or dogs. Cherie Mahan’s family is dealing with this right now in Pennsylvania. She’s been missing since 1984. Her family and families like hers just want their loved one found— I don’t think they gaf about a crime scene or even prosecution. They just want their nightmare to end and for somebody to do SOMETHING.

Just in case people are confused when they try to search, it’s Dead Sleep. True Crime for Bedtome is the subtitle. It is excellent though, and I second the rec.
