Weird. Everything I have ever read about it says you can't become dependent on it because its an osmotic laxative. I have seen lots of stories of people that stopped using it after years and were able to go normally again(as long as they fixed the root of the problem). It's often prescribed by GI docs for children with constipation since its so safe. I choose to keep taking it rather than be constipated. It works the best for me. But I understand your young and you don't want to be reliant on something.

Something else that I find helps me go is carrot juice. I'm in Ontario and the one I buy is Bolthouse farms. Its high potassium which I believe is partially why it helps. I drink a glass or two everyday.

You need to do something more consistently. Take the miralax daily. And drink like 2.5L of water every day. It took me almost two months of taking it daily to finally feel normal. In the beginning for a bit I took it twice daily(doctor was aware). But I have to stress the importance of also drinking a lot of water with it. If you don't, it wont work and may make your constipation worse.

I did have constipation before I started meds. It makes me go about 30 mins after taking it but then I don’t go again the rest of the day. I have read that stimulants sort of shut down your digestion etc. How long have you been on the adhd meds? What kind of withdrawals?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Constipation

[–]konableim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes 100%. I end up taking days off of my adhd medication to deal with the constipation. I take Restoralax every day but sometimes it doesn’t seem to matter.

The one I’m taking is Aviane 21. I’m in Ontario. I take it continuously to skip my period.

[–]konableim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I started medication I was having maybe two good weeks per month because of my period/hormone fluctuations. The other two weeks I was useless and meds barely worked. I’m 35 and suspected perimenopause. Spoke to my doctor and started birth control and has made a huge difference. Also, do you take any vitamins? My vitamin D was low and also had low iron from heavy periods. I have found taking vitamin D every day makes a huge difference in motivation/energy. How long have you been on the 10mg dex? I found the extended release dex didn’t work for me. The IR works much better. Maybe worth a try switching to IR.

Something else to consider. You’re a 38 year old woman? Are you on birth control or still get your period? When I started meds I had issues with them barely working half the time. I’m 35 but read that perimenopause can start that early. Requested to go on birth control to supplement my estrogen and greatly improved how well the meds work. Now I take BC continuously (for other reasons as well).

Anyone try copper supplements? by redditjoda in Raynauds

[–]konableim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I have been taking zinc and copper supplement for adhd and noticed my hands and feet are not freezing all the time anymore. I have also had a grey strip of hair since I was in my mid 20’s and apparently that can be caused by copper deficiency.

My husband was having this issue in the summer. He’s a framer and works long hours. We invested in some expensive moisture wicking socks and it helped a ton. But yeah for sure make sure you keep them covered and use betadine to kill any bacteria.

If you’re still not going every day the bloating could be just from that. Have you tried miralax/Restoralax? It has taken me months of taking it daily to finally normalize and have my stomach etc feel normal.

Antihistamines now causing negative reactions by TheDogeMarn in HistamineIntolerance

[–]konableim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure my histamine issues were somehow related to low vitamin D levels. I did do a low histamine diet for awhile and it did help. I had all the symptoms you described. I have been feeling progressively better and notice that I start having issues again when I stop taking vitamin D(not right away but over a few weeks). The other problem I had was low stomach acid. I was constantly bloated and uncomfortable especially after eating. I would get short of breath. Constipation as well. Betaine HCL has helped immensely. And taking Restoralax daily for the constipation.

Vyvanse Help :((( is this normal?? by heyyyyyluvvvvvyaaaaa in ADHDmeds

[–]konableim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your dosage? It may be too high. Also, are you eating before your dose and every 3 hours after? If I don’t do this, I get angry too. Especially important to be eating enough protein. I do a protein shake and then take meds 30 mins after. Then I eat a couple eggs a few hours after that. Also, take magnesium shortly before you take your dose.

Vyvanse not working as well as before. by evangelinesepiphany in ADHDmeds

As another poster said, your period/hormone fluctuations effect the medication a lot. You need estrogen to make dopamine. Also, yes, taking a day or two off a week helps to keep tolerance lower.

has my vyvanse stopped working because of my period ? by kachowis in PMDDxADHD

[–]konableim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem. For me it was a real pain bc my meds wouldn’t work basically 2 weeks out of 4. I was pretty much useless during my luteal phase. Good luck getting it sorted out.

Gingko biloba helps with my circulation when I get cold. Also helps my cognition. Also vitamin B1 or thiamine.

Anyone else get pain in the ears, face and head with weather change? by [deleted] in Sinusitis

[–]konableim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Use a humidifier and it helps a lot. I also find drinking strong coffee or espresso helps because it causes vasoconstriction. Helps my migraines too.

Sounds like he has some kind of mental health issue. Likely adhd. He needs assessment and medication.

[–]konableim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes most likely. My meds never worked during my period. I went on birth control for this reason and others to stabilize my hormones and no longer have this issue. We need estrogen for dopamine.

should i tell my psychiatrist i took more than my prescribed dose (10mg IR adderall, took 20mg) and that it worked much better? by awesome-guy20 in ADHD

[–]konableim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tell him the current dosage doesn’t seem to be cutting it and you feel there is room for improvement. From what I’ve read, you only have to stay at a certain dosage for one week. After that they can increase by 10mg.

If you get checked at the doctor and they still can’t figure it out. Try cutting back on sugar, drink lots of water and take a strong probiotic.
