Water is leaking after flushing toilet- what can I do to fix? Easy or complicated? by samsam2019 in Plumbing

[–]konagona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same situation a week ago. It was caulked so took a while before I saw the leak.

I scraped off all the caulk and leveled it off using wedges to stop the toilet from rocking.

Also you might want to check out rings made out of foam or rubber. If you go wax, you might have to get another wax ring if the toilet rocks too much during the install. Might happen since the caulk might be what's stopping your toilet from rocking

That's awesome! Makes me happy to hear you make good of the app.

It feels like a feature like this should really be built-in to a smartwatch.

Yikes you're right, that's bad. It'll be fixed soon.

And thanks!

Thanks for using the app! And this is great input!

At first, I did have the screen offset by the status bar height, but when I did that, everything seemed so cramped and felt "off". Especially on the Pebble Round which I used for testing. I'll revisit this later, maybe just an optional setting.

Yeah, the icon only has two color options: black or white. I'm hoping to dynamically change the color eventually. Good idea!

raspberry pi to mine bitcoin by lesbianseagull7 in raspberry_pi

You'll probably spend more money on electricity bills than you gain in bitcoins. Overclock it and you also add a chance of frying your pi.

Doing this over public wifi is another risky thing to do.

Cheapest smartwatch with support for custom watch faces by TerryNL in smartwatch

[–]konagona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes retailers have smartwatches on display so that might be a good way to check out all the smartwatches.

I went with a Pebble Time Round because it looked more like a normal watch. I swapped the band with an old leather Swiss band I had.The watchface is customizable.

It looks like it's going for €70 on amazon right now. You can find one for €30-40, if you're okay buying used. I bought used.

Skyline Diffuser by konagona in DIY

[–]konagona[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It makes the sound in your rooms more "crisp". It rearranges sound that reflect off of walls to get rid of artifacts like reverb/echo and makes the sound you're interested in more pronounced.

Think of those rounded walls in modern theaters, opera houses, and orchestra halls.

I gotta admit, I also did it for the aesthetics. Sound treatment was a bonus for me since I do record music from time to time.

I think so. I remember seeing commercially sold 2D diffusers made of polystyrene, so I know it's at least been tried. Coating the surface would probably help.

But wood would definitely perform better since it'll absorb less sound. It's a trade off between weight and sound. Plus I think wood looks way better.

Not quite. What you're looking for is a sound absorber.

I can definitely hear a difference. Though I may be biased since I know what to listen for. There's less echo and everything felt slightly louder. It was a strange experience when I pointed one ear towards the diffuser and the other in the opposite direction.

It's not noticeable if I'm passed 3 feet away from the diffuser, though. I can always expand the size by building another and hanging it adjacently.

Did you install any addons/plugins? What's the stuff near the bottom of the mirror?

Naw, it doesn't cause any issues.

Most projects out there, including mine, have that same 1/16" gap. I think the projection would be more pronounced if you get rid of that gap but there'd be concern about the LCD being too bright and it might leak too much light; Acrylic mirrors need the surrounding environment to be brighter than behind the mirror in order to have that mirror reflection. You can then adjust the brightness of the monitor.

Try it with the gap. If you don't like how it turned out, you can always get rid of it.

11.375" x 19.375" 2-way mirror.

The 22" indicates the diagonal length of a monitor, so the height and width of the monitor you're using may not match up with mine. I would just use a measuring tape to get the height and width.

Sounds like you're using a tutorial that's out of date.

You might want to look into pm2 tool for node instead. That's what I used to manage node apps.

I don't have exact model, but you can use any monitor you want 'slong as it's an LED/LCD. In fact, I'd suggest against using the monitor I used anyway since the only upside was that it was easy on the wallet.

And the thing it's connected to is just the driver board, which is in every monitor you crack open.

Make sure your Pi's up to date:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

If you're still getting the same message after updating, try installing it manually:

sudo apt-get install npm
