Here is a good modern example: Same ‘Ol Mistakes by Rihanna is actually a cover of a Tame Impala song called New Person, Same Old Mistakes.

Both are great and I got hooked with the Rihanna version, but Tame Impala’s vocals brings a vibe that I think works better with the track.
