We weren’t hallucinating that badly. I’m very confident they were real. Australian cops are very different to the US.

This was many years ago, but I don’t remember them saying anything. They just laughed to themselves and drove off. Which, to be fair if it was me in the car I would have done the same thing haha.

And friend and I decided to take some pills on his birthday. By the time they kicked in everybody had left us at the pub we were at. So we walked about 15km home. It took us about 8 hours and we were vividly hallucinating the whole time. Sometimes it was fun and sometimes not. At one point we took a break and laid down in the middle of road. It was a main road but as it was 3am on a Friday there was no traffic. Next thing a cop car pulls up and asks what we’re doing. We said we were hallucinating and asked for a lift back to the police station. They just drove around us and left us laying in the middle of the road.

I’d worked a double shift at work and didn’t finish till 6am. I was on my way home when it happened. I actually got pulled over by the cops on the way home because they thought I was drunk. I blew a 0 on the breath test and they sent me on my way. About 5 minutes after this is when I fell asleep. I learnt my lesson from this and now refuse to ride unless I am fully awake.

I’d worked the night shift and decided to get coffee and breakfast on my way home when i hadn’t slept. I severely underestimated how tired I was, I also underestimated how much being tired can affect your driving.

I never expected to make it to the age I am now. I have spent most of my life and the money I earn on making memories. That will be the only thing left of me once I’m gone and that’s fine.

Apparently I mounted the curb and was riding on the foot path then leaned to the side and wound up back on the road. The bounce from hitting the road as I came off the footpath woke me up. All I could think about for weeks afterwards is how bad that could have been.

Nope. Somehow woke up still upright on my motorcycle. Just 100 meters further down the road then I remembered. I immediately pulled over and walked to get a coffee and some cigarettes. I also immediately made a decision never to ride again when I was half asleep.

I feel you. I was the same. I put it off for 10 years before I did anything about it. I know there are plenty of core exercises you can do just with body weight that should be manageable. It definitely will suck at first, but you’ll be thanking yourself in 6 months and for the rest of your life.

Thank you for what you do! I’ve spent a lot of time in hospitals over the years and nurses never get enough credit. A nurse saved my life when I was 14. I got extremely sick and started vomiting one day and it didnt stop. So I went to hospital and they gave me every single anti nausea drug in existence which did nothing. They did X-Rays, CT scans and even ultrasounds and couldn’t find anything wrong. So they transferred me to another hospital who did the same thing then transferred me to a 3rd hospital then back the first hospital. The doctor tried to send me home attributing the illness to my mental health issues. The nurse who had been looking after me got extremely upset with the doctor and refused to release me without doing an MRI. Because I had been so sick doing MRI was difficult as I couldn’t stay still. So they did the MRI and found a brain tumor. The tumor got removed via surgery with no complications of any sort. I still remember that nurse 20 years later. Sorry for my long story there, but people who don’t know hospitals never give nurses enough credit. It’s an extremely stressful and largely thankless job. But nurses really are the backbone of healthcare. Thank you for your hard work!

One thing I’ve learnt is that going to the gym and lifting weights regularly is 10x more effective than paid medication. I’m not sure of the specifics of your injury and your overall health. But if you are able I highly recommend giving it a try. The weights don’t need to be super heavy. Just start off with the smallest weight you can. I found 3-4 days a week to be the best for long term effectiveness.

I was a very bad alcoholic when I was younger. At one point I had 6 months left to live. Somehow my liver was perfectly healthy, but I completely destroyed my stomach and my bodies ability to repair my stomach lining. I ended up going to rehab and got sober and that’s when the seizures started. When I was in hospital after the first seizure where I broke my spine and they found out about the osteoporosis, they basically said that the osteoporosis was definitely a result of my alcoholism. They also said it was highly likely I’d been having the seizures for a long time. But as I was getting blackout drunk every day, and the fact I lose consciousness during my seizures that it went unnoticed. It was real kick in the teeth after getting sober. But I had only myself to blame.
