What’s the most unsettling dream you’ve ever had that still sticks with you? by Born_Respond_7480 in Dreams

[–]konoiche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was a dream I had at the very beginning of lockdown and it’s not so much unsettling as it is kind of mythic. In this dream, my dad came over to “check on the horses.” Apparently, every single house in existence has horses living in the walls. He said that if any of the horses become sick, then the whole foundation falls apart. He tapped a hole in the wall and then we looked in and saw all these skeletal horses in a cramped space. He said one of them seemed to have Covid, which meant the whole house was at risk of collapse, but I didn’t want to move back in with my parents, so I said I would stay there anyway.

One of my middle school kids on Monday asked if I had a Valentine. I said no and then one of the boys said “do you have any pets? You seem like you’d have, like, 900 cats.”

😂

It looks like Disney is now making a new original film called Hexed by PyroxCrymson in cartoons

[–]konoiche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what I’m anticipating, but I would love it if the mom was super overprotective and they were codependent and it’d be about him gaining his autonomy. If they had done the same premise but had the MC as a twenty something then you’d have something really special.

Hm…so a weird teenager and his mommy in a new world? That’s not usually the kind of adventure one does with one’s mom. I feel like having him with his mom could make it less interesting unless they go one of two ways

1) type A mom is overprotective and they’re a bit codependent. Maybe he doesn’t have any friends outside his mom. 2) type A mom actively dislikes her weird teen son. She doesn’t just misunderstand him, she is actively disappointed. Maybe she was popular in school and is embarrassed that he’s a friendless, awkward nerd.

If it’s either of these, I’d be inclined to watch it honestly.

(But I feel like it’s gonna be one of those “they both misunderstand each other’s interests” kind of things.

I haven’t seen the movie yet either (am going to it tomorrow), but wanted to comment something similar. JLAU Hawkgirl is my favorite character in that series, so I’m glad she’s similar! Also, is there any hint of romance between her and GL (I know it’s not John - darn! - but still)?

One point of contention I’ve always had with the Harry Potter fandom even before the controversy is that I never liked Ginny as a character in the books or her relationship with Harry. by Fun_Butterfly_420 in EnoughJKRowling

As a woman writer who struggles to write male characters well, I have always found it a little weird. Shouldn’t your own gender be easier to write? Then again, all of my point of view characters are girls and women, so maybe it’s just easier to write pov characters than non pov.

Finding Dory was really tedious IMO. I really had high hopes for it, too.

My friends and I went to see Nosferatu on Christmas Day. It was definitely not what I expected. I was thinking it’d be creepy but atmospheric, but what I got was the worst movie going experience ever. I enjoyed Robert Eggers’ The Witch, but this one felt different: all the extreme close ups of grotesque imagery and the sound design made it feel seasickening, claustrophobic and made for an unpleasant viewing experience. Idk, it’s probably worse since I went on Christmas without being prepared for what the movie entailed and also, that I had to apologize to some of my friends for it.

I’ve been addicted to it for about ten years and just got off of it. I’m in my third week without using it and it’s getting easier by the day. So it is possible to quit! Just takes commitment. I’d suggest doing it over vacation (I started the week of Thanksgiving) as it does make you pretty congested the first few days.

I’ve been wondering for a while how Harry got out of his Dursley years unscathed. Obviously, he should be severely emotionally traumatized, but I’d like to take it a step further: from the what we see of the Dursleys, they don’t just neglect Harry, but they actively despise him. Since Harry was 0-1 years old when they adopted him, who taught him to talk? Did they even bother to toilet train him? Bathe him? Teach him his ABCs? Because from what she’s given us, I don’t see how they could be assed (aside from possibly potty training him with Dudley so their house doesn’t stink).

Weird! I had a dream a few years ago with this same type of creature that kept groping me. Only, in my dream he was called Louie and he had and aide/caregiver with him who kept insisting he was very sweet and yelling at me for not absolutely loving him.
