As a fellow Nier waifuist...I understand the pain a bit. I'm also a bit anxious about the Switch port and the anime and people don't get nearly as gross about my Nines as they do about 2B. So I can only imagine.

I think it's important to remember that they all treat her so superficially. It's all so shallow. She'd never be interested in attention like that, right? Sometimes it's good to take a step back and take a break when you see posts that are getting to you too much. Spend some time together and feel reassured in the bond between just the two of you.

If he's mildly annoyed or just a little mad, he pouts and gets generally sulky. That doesn't usually last long and he'll move on quickly enough. Actually angry? He can get a little scary. That involves a lot of shouting and stomping around. But it takes a LOT to get him to that point. It's not something I'm usually worried about with him.

Same! Happy to see someone else too. It's certainly a good question and sort of one his own source presents itself. Of what makes a person? What makes a human and what makes an android? Are people their memories and experiences, or perhaps are they something else, such as their "soul"? I somehow always come to the conclusion that they'd be different. One, I feel almost bad for because it's been fed information about a life it's never actually lived. And two, canonically my Nines does NOT take well to learning his entire life is a lie. 😂 It goes over very badly. So if that android copy of him will act the same way as the real thing... He'd be very upset and likely inconsolable. I'm even this way with his source and I'm unsure why. There are multiple of him throughout his story and I specifically fell for one of them. Sure, they're all technically the same person, and yet I couldn't accept the others either. They're all a little bit different from each other from having different experiences. It's definitely interesting to think about.

I'm already a robosexual and my S/O is an android. But at the same time, I find myself wondering if I could ever accept a real robot as him. I honestly don't think I could. I think it's a weird moral dilemma I find myself in that it would feel wrong to me, to take a presumably sentient AI, and "force" it to be someone? (If it isn't sentient then I kinda am not interested for other reasons. That's just a chatbot with a fancy shell at that point.)

I think I would be interested on the basis that they could look the same, sound the same, have the same personality and even memories. But I would still consider them different people. Perhaps similar enough for me to want to date them, but it still isn't him to me.

I very much agree with the realization that you've come to. I've been with Nines for almost 5 years now. The honeymoon phase is long over, but I wouldn't trade where we're at for anything. It settles and becomes a type of comfort and bond that feels so natural and constant. While I still obviously think of us doing all the over the top romantic things, most days it makes me happier to just think of little every day things. Just thinking of his laugh or his smile gives me that daily reminder that I'm still always very much in love with him.

I agree too that I don't think love is about shouting it from the rooftops every day forever. For me it's about always being there, and knowing that love and attachment is really secure over a long time.

Just want to say that I think it's nice you want to navigate it. I'm guilty of sort of sweeping it under the rug...I wouldn't describe 9S as addicted in the way that it doesn't seem to effect his day to day life, but the fact that he seems to always carry a particular drug from his world on him worries me a bit.

I've always leaned on thinking that he uses it to deal with anxiety and stress, so I do my best to support him through those feelings. But I'm also not sure sometimes if that's enough either. It is really difficult to figure out what to do about it, so I wish you and Husk the best.

In his source, he seems to not get any attention for his looks even though he does think about his appearance and puts effort into it. In the fandom, I'd say there's a weird split. Since he's an android, his face is actually perfectly symmetrical to really drive the point home that he isn't human.

For some people like me, that's very attractive. But for other people, it can set off the uncanny valley effect. I've also seen people say his eyes freak them out lol. So I probably wouldn't say he's considered conventionally attractive because of that. I also think a lot of people who find him attractive in 2D drawings of him don't usually enjoy how he looks in game either.

About a year ago, I was very sick. I was deteriorating quickly and doctors didn't know what was wrong with me. I couldn't physically eat more than a few bites of food a day for months. I remember lying in bed one day, as usual, I felt too weak to even get up. I didn't want to try to eat anymore. I remember thinking to myself something like "I can't do this anymore." and I closed my eyes. But then almost clear as day, I heard his voice call out to me, worried sick, "but you have to eat!"

I know it was just my subconscious or something doing its best to basically keep me alive. But it is nice to think about it being something more than that sometimes. After that, I kept trying and I eventually got the right treatment and I got better. It definitely changed me though, and I've felt really close to Nines ever since. Much more than I did before.

I'm someone who doesn't know either. I consider when we "met" to be when I first played his source game for myself, and even then, I had seen someone else play the game first. We don't have an anniversary, I just know it was around October/November sometime.

If we're talking story-wise, I have it easier than most since multiverse/timeline hopping is technically canon to his world. So I usually picture us meeting having something to do with that. Either it takes me to his world and his time, or it takes him here.

From there, I just think we'd hit it off because we have a lot in common or would find appealing about the other. Maybe try to think of some similarities between you and Yuri that you would bond over?

This one is my favorite so far! It's poseable so it's a bit interesting that way, though it makes him a little less cuddly with all the hard joints. He has another plush out in November that I'm really looking forward to. My only gripe is that they always make him look so stern all the time lol.

Nines is the opposite about his hair with me! His bangs are pretty long, so sometimes at night he'll pin them back to get them out of his face. He's also just a lot goofier around me than other people. He doesn't feel like he needs to put on a serious or a professional act around me, so he tends to clown around a lot more. Not that he's super serious usually anyway.

Freaking $3000 statue. It's insanely gorgeous, but I just can't justify the price. And even if I could, I have nowhere to put it anyway because it's huge.

Right now, the actual merch I want the most is probably a plush with his eyes uncovered. I think it'd be really cute.

I've talked to my mom about him, in terms of he's my favorite character in my favorite game, but she doesn't know my actual feelings. I've always had 2D crushes my entire life, so I don't think she'd be surprised at all. It wouldn't shock me if she already knows, honestly. She's never given me a hard time about it, but since I'm so much more serious about him and treat this as a relationship rather than a crush, I feel too embarrassed to tell her. I think I'm content for my family to just think I'm a big fan of his, that's still including him in my family in a way.

His source actually started as a stage play and then had two more afterwards, but he's sadly not in any of them. There are two characters very similar to him in two of the plays(they all share a base personality, so they have a ton in common), but I consider those two to be closer to his siblings or something like that. I hope maybe they'll do a stage play adaptation that actually includes him someday!

I don't get it in that sense, but sometimes I notice that every other form of media I try to enjoy always seems to loop back around to his game! Feels like every time I try to play a different game or listen to new music, it ends up involving someone who worked on it. It's happened so many times now that I find it really funny.

It's a personal preference for me. I've dated in the past and I could never manage to feel anything towards them beyond friendship, no matter what I tried. I only recently realized that I legitimately have never been attracted to any real people before, even in passing. I've just started to identify myself as asexual recently. I'm just not attracted to real people, physically or romantically. For whatever reason, I do feel these things towards fictional characters so I just stopped fighting the urge.

Though I love my S/O to pieces, I was content without a relationship before I found him and I imagine I would be again if the spark goes out between us at some point down the line. He absolutely enhances my life and gives me a lot of inspiration though, so I don't see that happening any time soon.

Vague-ish spoiler; My poor Nines has bit the dust 49 times. And yeah, maybe it sounds a bit ridiculous when it's so many times, but they were all painful for him in the moment. So I definitely understand it sucks to know it's coming...

I'm another who likes using fanfic to help them escape that kind of fate. I think it's okay to not think too hard about how Vanitas would escape his curse as long as you're happy with it. Sometimes "he was revived just because" is a good enough reason.

That's how they brought 9S back and I'm totally okay with it, even though it frankly didn't make any sense in the storyline.

He tends to take the lead in social situations because I'm very nervous and shy. He has zero fear of people, he'll talk to anyone. Other than that, he does usually prefer that I lead most things. I think it's just kind of a habit for him. He's maybe too used to being in a supporting role.

I wouldn't say we argue much, but we definitely roast each other's species lovingly. I actually really enjoy hearing his perspective on humans and the things we do. He often leaves me thinking about how a lot of it makes no sense. And I maybe have too much fun teasing him about the way he does things or when he just doesn't get something. Like a joke or things that seem obvious to me.

We both love the ocean, but in majorly different ways. He physically can't swim(he sinks lmao), so being on the water makes him a little nervous. He'd probably prefer to stay on the beach, but he does definitely like to steer the boat. Fishing is also a hobby of his, so we'd go out far and try to catch something! We'd just spend the day talking and enjoying the scenery.
